The Crown’s Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki are snapped on set while filming scenes from 1995

The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West have been snapped on set in Winchester while filming scenes for the royal drama’s fifth series.

Images show the Australian actress, 32, who took over the role from Emma Corrin, channelling Princess Diana in a royal blue blazer and a black figure-hugging dress. 

Alongside Elizabeth are Dominic, 52, who plays Prince Charles, and his son Senan, 13, who plays Prince William, as they depict the young royal’s first day at Eton College in 1995.

Dominic West who plays Prince Charles in the popular drama was spotted with his son Senan, 13, who is playing Prince William, depicting a moment in 1995 when Charles and Diana dropped a young William off for his first day at Eton College

Elizabeth showed off her character’s fashion prowess, matching her blue blazer with sheer black tights and a black chain strap handbag. She also sported the late royal’s signature blonde hair style and smokey eye makeup. 

Meanwhile Dominic donned a smart navy suit and a burgundy tie, similar to the one the Prince of Wales wore on the day.

Senan looked smart in a plaid grey suit which he paired with a white shirt and navy tie, identical to that of Prince William’s, who was just 13-years old at the time.

Elizabeth Debicki, who is playing Diana, looked almost identical to the princess as she donned similar clothing and perfected her mannerisms

The actress also donned similar jewellery to the Princess of Wales wearing a replica of her famous blue diamond engagement ring which was given to her in early 1981

The last two series of The Crown will cover the Royal Family in the 1990s to 2003. The crew will be picking up the story where it left off in the fourth season. 

The breakdown of Charles and Diana’s relationship will be a central part of the new series. 

The fourth series of The Crown, which streamed in November last year, told the story of the early romance between Charles and Diana.  

It was announced last year that Elizabeth would take over from Emma Corrin and play Diana for the fifth and sixth series, which will cover Diana’s death in 1997. 

The actress said of her casting last year: ‘Princess Diana’s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many. 

‘It is my privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.’ 

Meanwhile  Dodi Fayed is expected to play a large part in the next series of The Crown, with British actor Khalid Abdalla, 39, who starred in the 2007 film The Kite Runner, cast in the role.

There are several poignant moments which could be used, including the Queen making a speech on her 40th anniversary of her accession in 1992, in which she called the year an ‘annus horriblis’. 

She was referring to the breakdown of three of her children’s marriages; Prince Andrew, Princess Anne’s and Prince Charles’ divorce from Princess Diana.

Other notable events during the time period included a fire at Windsor Castle, her golden wedding anniversary in 1997, and the deaths of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother and the Princess of Wales.

Elizabeth and Dominic depicted the famous royal couple, however the pair appeared to look more glum then the original pictures taken on the day 

Proving her character’s fashion prowess, the actress can be seen sporting a blue blazer with gold buttons – identical to the one Diana wore on the day 

Imelda Staunton is taking over the role of Elizabeth II from Olivia Colman who won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2020 and 2021.

Also joining The Crown in series five is Lesley Manville, 64, who is set to star as Princess Margaret. Meanwhile Jonathan Pryce, 73, will take over the role of Prince Philip. James Murray will take on the role of Prince Andrew, replacing Tom Byrne, who played the Queen’s second son in series four.  

The Crown’s fifth series will return to Netflix in November.
