Apple’s iOS 17 update brings some nifty new features, including a nifty camera trick that helps you straighten your photos.
The iPhone camera already comes with a few optional settings to help you brighten up your photos, including a grid that can be overlaid on the viewfinder to apply the rule of thirds.
But with iOS 17, launching this fall, Apple has improved the camera leveling feature by separating it from Grid mode.
The new update makes leveling an individual option and the somewhat hidden feature can be found in Settings.

To access the new feature, users need to open the Settings app, click on Camera and scroll down to Level.
Once you slide the toggle switch, you can return to your Camera app to find three horizontal white lines.
If you tilt your phone, you’ll see that there are two shorter lines that stay fixed, while the long line in the middle moves with your phone.
To make sure your photos are straight, you need to align all three lines. Once the line has turned yellow, you’ll know your photos are perfectly balanced.
The new feature removes the added step of straightening your photos after you take them, and can even help you understand how to level your phone without it.
The feature won’t be available until the next iOS 17 update, which is expected to arrive in September with the launch of iPhone 15.
Several other exciting features will be added, including standby mode, which enables a smart display while your phone is charging and in landscape mode.

You don’t have to type ‘duck’ anymore, new iOS 17 update improves autocorrect feature to better predict what you’ll type next
It effectively turns your iPhone into a desk or bedside clock, which can help busy phone holders.
Autocorrect also gets an improvement, and the keyboard uses a transformer model to better predict what you’re typing next, the feature can also help with grammar.
The new update adds a Journal app, called Journal, to help iPhone owners deal with stress. The feature creates personalized prompts and you can also schedule notifications to remind yourself to write.
In addition, Apple’s Neural Engine, iOS17, will also be able to live transcribe incoming voicemails, a feature called Live Voicemail, which will allow users to judge whether to take or ignore the call based on the incoming message.
Not all iPhone users will be able to download the new update to their device, however there will be a limit for some older iPhone models, including the 2017 iPhone X.
The list of iPhones getting the feature only dates back to 2018 – from the iPhone XS and above, which includes the popular iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.
