Royal fans go wild over Charlotte’s striking resemblance to Anne as she attends first Wimbledon

Royal fans went wild over Princess Charlotte’s striking resemblance to her great-aunt Princess Anne as she attended her first-ever Wimbledon yesterday.

The eight-year-old royal family joined the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, and her older brother Prince George, nine, to see Carlos Alcaraz triumph over Novak Djokovic in the Men’s Singles Final.

During the match, Charlotte sat between Kate Middleton and Prince George in the front row of the Royal Box.

Over the course of the four-and-a-half hour match, the royal seemed completely engrossed in the action – and appeared to be cheering for the 20-year-old Spaniard.

After Charlotte was pictured celebrating Carlos’ historic victory, royal fans took notice of how much the royal resembles her great-aunt, Princess Anne, 72.

In 1962, the Princess Royal saw Rod Laver win the championship from fellow Australian national Martin Mulligan.

As she watched from the Royal Box, Princess Anne – who was 11 at the time – was equally captivated by the action.

In one particularly tense moment, the now mother-of-two frowned and appeared to cry out during the game.

After watching Princess Charlotte’s animated reactions, royal fans highlighted how much the young royal resembles her grandfather’s sister.

One tweeted: ‘Charlotte is so Princess Anne’s [vibe].’

After one user shared two photos of the royal women’s reactions, another added: “Excellent comparison.

“I said as I watched Princess Anne is the spitting image of Her Majesty the Queen at the same age.”

“That’s great,” gushed a third. Meanwhile, a fourth said, “Princess Anne is a wonderful child.”

According to royal author Brian Hoey, the Princess Royal – who is an avid equestrian – is not a fan of tennis, just as her late mother was not.

In his 2020 book Royalty Revealed, he claimed, “The Princess Royal isn’t much of a fan either and says Wimbledon is too ‘cauldron-like’.”

Princess Charlotte looked adorable in a blue floral dress as she arrived at the All England Club with her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and her nine-year-old brother, Prince George.

Ahead of the men’s final between Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, the family met hard-working ball boys and girls – and Princess Charlotte was even lucky enough to make a fuss of police dog Stella.

During her first-ever visit to the Wimbledon Championships, Charlotte also chatted with Mu’awwiz Anwar, who was conducting the pre-match coin toss.

But Louis, the youngest member of the family, was unhappy that he couldn’t join them despite practicing as a ball boy this year.

Yesterday, the Princess of Wales told Ella Ottaway, who runs the youth program at the All England Club: ‘It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year. They watched with excitement.

“Charlotte, you’ve mastered scoring. Louis was very upset that he wouldn’t come today.’ After their conversation, 16-year-old ballboy Joel revealed that Louis is “trying to practice standing and being serious like us.”
