Kevin Costner to pay estranged wife Christine Baumgartner $129K per month in child support payments

Kevin Costner is on the hook for six-figure monthly payments after a judge issued a tentative child support settlement.

Yellowstone, 68, has been ordered to pay his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner, 49, a whopping $129,755 a month in child support.

That means the amount is significantly more than double what Costner originally offered his ex, though it’s also only slightly more than half what she asked for.

The decision is only preliminary and will be reviewed at a later hearing, according to court documents obtained by Fox news.

The decision comes after Baumgartner was ordered to vacate Costner’s mansion by July 31.

Big outlay: Kevin Costner, 68, will pay more than $129,000 a month to his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner, which TMZ says is just over half of what she requested; seen in 2015 in Santa Barbara, California.

According to the details of the couple’s prenuptial agreement, she was reportedly required to move within 30 days of either party filing for divorce, a deadline she missed after being the first to file.

She previously said in court filings that she would vacate the estate on Aug. 31, following the results of a court date originally set for July 12, though it’s unclear if that hearing is still on the books.

In the documents, Baumgartner agreed to vacate the property by the end of August, as long as Costner complied with “all support and compensation orders the court issues on July 12,” the statement said. TMZ.

The final decision stipulates that both Costner and his ex will share their children’s healthcare costs 50-50.

The former couple share three children: sons Cayden, 16; and Hayes, 14; along with their youngest daughter Grace, 13.

They will also split the cost in half for the children’s expensive private school lessons, as well as their extracurricular activities, including sports.

Baumgartner had been to avoid paying those costs all together, as she had previously requested in filings that her ex cover them in full.

The $129,755 figure is not set in stone, and both Costner and Baumgartner will have the chance to challenge it at a future hearing in hopes of bringing it closer to their desired support amount.

However, TMZ notes that the final figure rarely changes much from the initial determination.

Costner also incurred additional costs after the judge ordered him to pay $200,000 for his estranged wife’s attorney fees, along with another $100,000 for forensic costs.

The Waterworld star’s forensic accountant previously claimed that Baumgartner spent more than $100,000 on cosmetic procedures, and that those past expenses were factored into the amount ($248,000) she asked for child support.

His payments are due on the first of each month, although he will be credited for all payments he has made since the beginning of July.

Baumgartner had also asked the court to order Costner to make the payments by wire transfer, presumably to ensure they could not be late, although that request was denied.

Costner is represented by famed divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who reportedly served as the inspiration for Laura Dern’s lawyer character in Noah Baumbach’s critically acclaimed film Marriage Story, which earned Dern an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Wasser has defended the validity of the prenuptial agreement in court and it seems that the judge is inclined to agree with her, although it is not yet a foregone conclusion.

A hearing on the validity of the document will not take place until November, and Baumgartner is expected to continue to challenge it.

The judge opted to follow the provisions of the document before considering it more fully at a later date, but the preliminary move to get Costner’s ex out of the house indicates he may agree that the rest of the case document is also valid.

TMZ previously reported that Baumgartner will also be forced to pay back $1.5 million Costner paid her if the judge rules that the prenuptial agreement is valid, and that she will also reportedly be forced to pay his attorney fees for the defend the document.

Baumgartner previously wrote in court filings that she was hesitant to leave her home without a plan and financial resources, if only for the sake of her children, whom she doesn’t want to move multiple times.

She claimed that ‘Kevin wants me to rent [a] place without [a] financial plan available. However, [I] have our three children to think about. It’s against their best interests to commit to renting that out [I] may not be able to pay, especially since that would eventually lead to multiple relocations.

“My goal is and will continue to be to maintain as much stability for our children as possible, including having the right resources and plans in place so that [I] can determine [a] stable home for them, rather than making temporary and inconsistent housing arrangements,” she continued.

In addition to being the primary breadwinner, Costner was also the only person to earn money recently, and Baumgartner says in her filing that she has no income.

The Yellowstone star was at stake to help his estranged wife move out per their prenuptial agreement, but it was a relatively paltry sum for their lifestyle.

Costner reportedly paid her $1 million to find a new home, but with California’s high housing prices — especially if she tried to stay near Costner — she may have struggled to find anything resembling the luxury to which she and her children are accustomed.

According to RadarOnline, Costner deposited $1 million into Baumgartner’s bank account to get her to move out of his mansion, and said he gave her $200,000 earlier in their marriage in accordance with their prenuptial agreement.

However, Baumgartner has not touched the money, saying it would rob her of her ability to challenge the validity of their prenup.
