Megyn Kelly Defends Casey DeSantis After Critics Called Her ‘America’s Karen’
Megyn Kelly has defended Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey after she was dubbed “America’s Karen” and compared to Serena Waterford from The Handmaid Tales.
The 52-year-old broadcaster discussed how Casey was duped for her looks and her involvement in Florida governor’s presidential campaign — which Kelly said was because Casey’s Democratic opponents “viewed her as a threat.”
Kelly showed a new campaign video from DeSantis camp on The Megyn Kelly Show, in which Casey spoke about the importance of protecting children.
She then showed a clip of Florida Rep. David Jolly calling Casey “America’s Karen” in a segment on MSNBC.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s presented in heels or boots, the DeSantis Doctrine is a losing one,” said Jolly, a former Republican. Another guest on the MSNBC show described Florida’s First Lady as a Serena Waterford wannabe at the time.
Kelly said in commentary with Dave Marcus and Stu Burguiere, “I think the reason they react so angrily to her is that they accurately view her as a threat.”
Megyn Kelly said on her show, “They hate her in a special way, it comes at her almost more viciously than at Melania.” [Trump]’

Kelly said sarcastically, “She can’t do anything right!”
If they said things like this about a leftist, those same people would be outraged by the rampant misogyny, but as always, it’s always fair game against a Republican woman.
“They hate her in a special way, it comes at her almost more viciously than at Melania [Trump].’
‘[There is] this particular cruelty to her.”
Burguiere agreed with Kelly’s comment, saying Florida’s First Lady will be an asset to Ron’s 2024 presidential campaign as she comes across as relatable and down-to-earth.
This comes just weeks after a profile of Casey caused backlash when the piece compared her to Lady Macbeth and accused her of personally choosing to fire a key employee as DeSantis prepared to run for president in 2024.
Politico’s piece, titled “The Casey DeSantis Problem: ‘His Greatest Asset and His Greatest Liability’,” sparks the ire of many who argue that the mainstream media would never treat a Democratic politician’s wife so harshly.
The Michael Kruse article was inspired by none other than former Trump adviser Roger Stone who once posted on Telegram, “Have you ever noticed…how much Ron DeSantis’s wife Casey resembles Lady Macbeth?”

The piece claimed that DeSantis’ wife is “unusually important and unusually involved” in his political work, as is his “key adviser.”
The story even goes so far as to explain and quote the plot of Shakespeare’s classic tale.
It then accuses her of being a problem for Florida’s popular governor, who was reelected by 20 points last fall, by restricting his inner circle “not just because he doesn’t trust people constitutionally, but because she doesn’t either.” .
“She is the power behind the throne,” Kruse quotes a Republican lobbyist. ‘The tip of the spear,’
Multiple sources anonymously criticized her for being behind the firing of Susie Wiles, a political operative who took credit for helping former President Trump and Governor DeSantis win Florida in 2016 and 2018. She now leads Trump’s 2022 campaign .
It then quotes an anonymous former DeSantis staffer calling his former boss “a vengeful son of a bitch” and defaming Casey as “double.”
Earlier this month, Casey DeSantis starred in her first solo campaign appearance, talking easily to Iowans about their corn crop, their schools, their families and the weather.

She has become a prominent public face and voice for Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign and was in Johnston to launch “Mamas for DeSantis” – a national version of the group she started in Florida to help her husband win a second term as governor to win.
“It’s one thing if your policies come out after us – the mamas. It’s another thing when they come after our kids. And then the claws come out,” she said.
In her 35-minute speech, she focused on three topics: her children, her husband, and God.
She vowed to travel the country to help her husband win the Republican presidential nomination and the White House.
“As long as I have breath in my body, I will fight for Ron DeSantis – not just because he is my husband; that’s part of it — but it’s because I believe in him,” she said.
“If you want someone to go to Washington DC to clean the house, to get this country back on the trajectory we’re talking about – our rights come from our creator and our government is set up to protect our rights that come from being us, he’s the man to do it and if I have to cross this country I will,’ she vowed.
