A celebrity chef burst into tears on live television when he blamed vegans for ruining his relationship.
John Mountain, who runs Perth’s Fyre Restaurant, said he lost the woman he thought he’d marry after she could no longer handle the negative attention animal rights activists brought to his swanky establishment.
Fyre was the target of recent disruptive protests led by notorious vegan activist Tash Peterson after Mountain announced last month that he would ban non-meat eaters from his restaurant following an outburst with a disgruntled diner.
“I lost my partner because of this, I lost a relationship, I thought I was going to marry this woman and she just couldn’t handle the amount of attention – thank you vegans,” he shared A current situationholding back the tears.

But the UK-born restaurateur vowed revenge against the activists, stating that all vegans will remain “barred for life” from his venues.
“Now I’m going to open steakhouses to piss you off,” Mountain said.
On Saturday night, Ms. Peterson, along with a dozen other activists, stormed into Fyre, with a speaker loudly playing the sound of pigs squealing in distress.
Protesters chanted and showed a video of a pig being slaughtered with the audio amplified through a loudspeaker.
Mountain was seen on footage storming out a number of times and fighting with the protesters as he attempted to wrestle Mrs. Peterson’s speaker.
He told the program that he “lost his cool” because of the toll it took on him personally and professionally.
“It’s really disrupting my business and I saw the look on the faces of my customers, my staff — they were all a little bit scared and a little bit nervous and I just stormed out,” Mountain said.
Mountain said police will file charges and the landowner has filed a warning to prevent Ms. Peterson from going near his business.

Ms Peterson has since tried to justify her form of protest in various social media posts.
“We’re not going after this restaurant because they ban vegans – yes that may have been a reason that spurred it – but ultimately it’s because this man benefits from animal cruelty and murder and he also glorifies it.” she said on Sunday.
Ms Peterson, who goes by the name ‘Vgan Booty’ on social media, had performed a similar stunt the weekend before.
