Aldi announces major change in the frozen section of Australian stores

Aldi has announced a ‘massive’ eco-friendly change that will affect stores across Australia in the coming months.

The budget supermarket chain announced that it would replace the glass chest freezers in favor of cooling doors in the refrigerator compartments.

This change is intended to make Aldi’s frozen food department more visible without customers having to sift through piles of boxes.

While only select stores in New South Wales have been updated, Aldi is expanding the late-September trial to a further 15 stores in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.

Daily Mail Australia understands that each pilot store registered an energy saving of approximately 30 percent on cooling consumption.

The news comes after Aldi announced a new range of ready-to-eat delicious meals and side dishes starting at just $1.99.

The retail giant’s newly dropped range of “hearty” no-fuss dinners will be available for a limited time this winter.

Shoppers can treat themselves to tasty dishes, including pho bowls for $1.99, a chicken parm for $6.99, and lobster bisque pots for $9.99.
