How swim coach Kyle Daniels’ twin brother Liam supported him through sexual assault trials

A swimming coach acquitted of sexually assaulting nine young girls was steadfastly supported by his identical twin brother throughout his four-year ordeal.

The strong bond between Kyle Daniels, 24, and his brother Liam is revealed in a series of photos posted online as Kyle defended himself at two trials.

Liam’s Instagram features photos of the pair laughing together, pouting cheekily for the camera while dressed in leggings and fluorescent pink camisoles, working out and even throwing back photos with their parents.

Despite never speaking publicly about his brother’s ordeal, Liam is said to have supported him from the day he was charged.

Kyle was arrested in March 2019 for his alleged conduct at the Mosman Swim Center on Sydney’s lower north coast.

He endured a seven-week trial in 2020 and another ten weeks in 2022 before the NSW Director of the Public Prosecution Service decided not to proceed with a third.

Daily Mail Australia understands that the twins no longer live at home with their parents, Janine and James, but live with their Staffordshire bull terrier, Jack.

It’s clear that their bond was just as strong growing up; the twins mingled in the same friendship circle, played the same sports, and at one point worked at the same swimming center where the crimes Kyle allegedly once committed took place.

As young adults, the brothers even shared a joint Instagram account detailing their fitness gains and posted videos of their strength training at a Fitness First gym.

Lately they are more interested in cardio and resistance training, they went to an F45 gym where they shared a photo of themselves and their mother.

The twins were born in Johannesburg in 1998 and went to school in South Africa and Singapore before moving to Sydney in 2014.

Kyle was appointed School Prefect at the prestigious Knox Grammar school in 2016 and played first class water polo before enrolling for a sports science degree at the University of Sydney in 2017.

Their father James is a South African advertising guru who had worked as the global creative director of the renowned agency Saatchi & Saatchi, based in Singapore.

Their mother Janine is a leadership coach specializing in neuroscience.

While still in Year 12, Kyle took a swimming teacher accreditation course at the Mosman Swim Centre, in one of Sydney’s most expensive suburbs.

He first worked as a swimming teacher at Ravenswood School for Girls before applying for a position at the Mosman center in late 2016.

However, his world came crashing down when serious allegations were made against him in 2019.

Kyle was charged with assaulting two students, ages six and eight, during private swim lessons at the Mosman Swim Center between February 2018 and February 2019.

Liam was also working at the center at the time, but quit the day his brother was taken into custody.

Kyle’s arrest brought more girls forward with allegations that he touched them on or near their genitals between February 2018 and February 2019.

He was charged with 21 counts of allegedly sexually touching nine girls between the ages of five and ten.

Kyle pleaded not guilty to all charges and has always denied any allegation. Hee had the full support of his parents, and the couple often sat out of court almost every day.

Last December, the decision to completely drop the charges came after a jury found Mr. Daniels was not guilty of 10 charges against him, including serious charges of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.

Crown prosecutor Tony McCarthy said at the time: “The Director of Public Prosecutions has determined that there are no further proceedings in respect of any of the outstanding charges.”

Despite being cleared of any criminal offence, Mr Daniels continued to be pursued by police who continued to seek a restraining order against the 24-year-old on behalf of five of the girls.

Those detained force orders were finally withdrawn and rejected before a magistrate at Downing Center local court on May 31.

Mr Daniels has kept a low profile since being cleared of the offenses and has not spoken publicly about his four-year ordeal.

His father James celebrated his son’s exemption online.

In a post alongside a photo of him beaming in a beach towel with his arms around the shoulders of Kyle and his twin brother Liam, James wrote on Instagram: “A very happy heart.

“For anyone in the know, this is the best Christmas this dad could have ever wished for. Pure happiness and love. My boys!’

The photo, which shows the three men on Manly beach, appeared to have been uploaded to James Daniels’ Instagram page in January.
