Briton who died after falling from second floor balcony in Ibiza ‘cheated death in a 30-foot fall at the same resort in 2018 when he impaled himself on a parasol’
- The 35-year-old was impaled in September 2018 and had to be rescued
- He died in a second fall at the San Antonio party resort on Tuesday
A British man who lost his life after falling from a second-floor balcony in Ibiza two days ago cheated death from a 30-foot fall at the same resort nearly five years ago, it emerged today.
The 35-year-old – whose name has not been named – ended up in a near-tragedy on a parasol pole in September 2018 and had to be rescued by police and firefighters, well-placed sources confirmed.
He lost his life in a second fall in the early hours of Tuesday from a nearby apartment building in the San Antonio party resort.
Police found drugs in his bedroom in the shared apartment he was staying in after the tragedy, above a UK supermarket and opposite the famous O Beach Club which is popular with footballers and celebs and co-owned by Gary Lineker’s brother Wayne.
Full autopsy results are not yet available, but police sources said overnight investigators thought the dead man was acting under the influence of drugs when he went over the edge of his balcony.

2018: The same man is carried into an ambulance after jumping from a fourth-floor balcony and crashing onto a table on a first-floor terrace, impaling himself on a pole
The alarm was sounded at around 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
The first 999 callers reported a man lying unconscious on the sidewalk, but he was already dead when first responders arrived.
Although he was described as a non-resident after news of the tragedy broke, it was not immediately clear this morning whether he had been vacationing or working in San Antonio.
The news of the man’s death comes shortly after 22-year-old amateur footballer John McKenna from Carlisle in Cumbria died at the same resort after jumping from a three-star hotel on June 23.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after desperate efforts by paramedics to save him.
Pal and former Carlisle United player Josh Dixon admitted in a tribute that he was ‘heartbroken’ at the time, writing in a social media tribute: ‘Absolutely heartbroken writing this. One of my best friends all through school.
Everywhere you went you put a smile on someone’s face. Will be a huge miss for all of us. Rest in peace big man.’
The man had to be rescued by police and firefighters after jumping from a fourth-floor balcony in 2018 and crashing onto a table on a first-floor terrace.
There have been a number of tragedies involving tourists in the party resort of San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany) in recent months.
Another friend, Olly Doyle, added of John, known as ‘big John’: ‘A real gentleman and the most genuinely nice lad there is.
‘Never a smile off his face, one of the best. Rest in peace big man.’
Electrician John, who stayed at the azuline Hotel Llevant where the tragedy took place, played for Carlisle City Sunday League Premier side Scotby FC.
The club said in a tweet after learning of John’s death: “Today we lost a legend, a brilliant player but an even better human being.
