Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham recalled showing former President Donald Trump documents to diners on the Mar-a-Lago patio.

Grisham appeared on MSNBC’s Alex Witt Reports Saturday and was asked if Trump was likely to show secret documents to people in private meetings.

CNN obtained audio of Trump discussing a document described in the indictment as a battle plan for Iran, which he allegedly showed to a writer and publisher working on a book at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on July 21, 2021 .

“The short answer is yes. I saw him showing documents to people in Mar-a-Lago on the dining room patio,” Grisham replied. So he has no respect for classified information. Never did.’

The former president is sticking to his story that despite describing something as “highly confidential” and saying it contained “secret information” about Iran, he was actually showing newspaper and magazine clippings.

Grisham didn’t buy it.

“You know, every time listening to that conversation, it just makes me so angry,” she said, later adding that Trump’s comments on that tape are “insulting.”

“He specifically says he should have released it, but he didn’t. So there, I think, is the evidence. I believe there’s also a part of that audio where he says, you know, this is off the record,” she continued.

Grisham said Trump was well versed in the “off the record” lines that reporters use.

“And he knows that if it has to be off the record, they can’t talk about it. So I think he covered himself in that regard,” she said.

Grisham also talked about how difficult it is to get a security clearance.

“I was held up on a $13 childcare bill that I didn’t know about, so I couldn’t be exonerated,” she recalled.

“It’s very difficult to get a security clearance. And I think people, you know, miss that in the weeds of course. But to show it to people who haven’t gone through the extreme vetting you go through to get permission, you know, it’s a disservice to the country, but it also potentially puts people at risk,” Grisham added .

Grisham was one of those in the Trump administration who became a critic after the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

She resigned as Melania Trump’s chief of staff that day, after serving as press secretary to the first lady and then White House press secretary and communications director.

During her tenure, Grisham never gave a White House briefing on camera, instead appearing on Fox News and other conservative TV channels.

Trump was indicted in Miami last month on 37 federal charges of mishandling classified documents and pleaded not guilty.
