Alicia Vikander makes rare appearance with husband Michael Fassbender at Karlovy Vary Film Festival

Alicia Vikander looked as glamorous as ever when she attended a screening of Firebrand at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on Friday.

The actress, 34, was joined by her husband Michael Fassbender, 45, at the event in the Czech Republic as they made a rare public appearance together.

Wearing a gorgeous plunging neckline embellished dress, Alicia looked simply sensational as she took the stage after winning the Festival President’s Award.

She completed her ensemble by pulling back her dark brown hair in a chic updo and opted for a subtle make-up look.

Her film, Firebrand, premiered at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival in May and stars Alicia as Catherine Parr, Henry VIII’s sixth and final wife.

Meanwhile, Michael looked dashing in a black tuxedo with a white shirt and a neat bow tie.

Elsewhere, Russell Crowe was also on hand as he stepped out to accept the festival’s Crystal Globe for his outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema.

He addressed the crowd and said, “I must tell you the truth. I didn’t know about this film festival until recently.

‘Fortunately, I still enjoy going to work every day. I love getting up every day and thinking about the scenes. When I really feel there is some kind of connection.

“So I never have to wake up at 4 in the morning and I don’t know why I’m here” The Hollywood Reporter explained.

Last year, Alicia opened up about the pain she went through after suffering an “extreme” miscarriage before becoming pregnant with her first child.

The Tomb Raider actress revealed in September 2021 that she had quietly welcomed a baby boy earlier that year – with husband Michael.

But Alicia has now spoken out about the “painful” struggle she endured on her journey to become a mother, she admits in a new interview with The times that “it took time” for the couple to father their first baby together.

“We have a child now, but it took us time,” she said, before revealing that she suffered a “painful, extreme” miscarriage before getting pregnant with her son.

She also compared her experience to her 2016 film The Light Between Oceans, in which she starred opposite Michael, with the couple playing a childless couple who experience two miscarriages and end up adopting a girl lost at sea.

Alicia added: ‘[The miscarriage] was so extreme, painful to go through and of course it reminded me of making that movie [The Light Between Oceans]. That film now has a different meaning.’

The Ex Machina star added: “Sometimes you go through hard things in life and when you have a desk job you can get away from it all.
