A major bakery chain has closed nine stores nationwide without warning — check to see if your local branch is on the list.

Founded in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in 1885, the company has permanently closed nine of their stores after announcing it was making “some changes to both our retail and bakery operations” following an “in-depth review” of the company.

The locations of the nine branches are Scarborough, Berwick Hills, Skelton and Great Ayton in North Yorkshire.

These closures follow the closure of their stores in Lincoln, including Woodhall Drive, The Hykeham Green Shopping Centre, Alford and Sleaford, and Houghton in Sunderland.

A Cooplands spokesperson said: ‘Following a thorough review of the business, we are making some changes to both our retail and bakery businesses to better position the business for long-term sustainable growth.
