Horrifying moment CA woman, 69, is dragged by a car after chasing robber who stole her Gucci glasses

A courageous 69-year-old woman was dragged into a robber’s car after refusing to let the thief drive off in her Gucci sunglasses.

Despite suffering a bloody head injury, the unnamed woman was undeterred by the chaos, adamant she’d do it all again given the chance.

“For me, to fight all the way to the end makes me feel good,” she said in an interview with KTVU.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday in Alameda, California.

The elderly woman enjoyed one snack while on the phone, sitting in her parked red Ford Mustang, when a white car pulled up behind her.

Surveillance footage shows the man walking to the passenger side of her car and grabbing her bag, before running back to his car.

The woman did not hesitate to take action.

She chased and confronted the robber, but when she reached into the car, the robber drove off, dragging her away.

The woman said she wasn’t chasing her purse, but her Gucci sunglasses. Her number one priority was getting her expensive Gucci prescription glasses back, which she said she couldn’t seem to live without.

“That was what prompted me to go after him because I want my glasses,” she said. “I can’t see without glasses.”

The victim was dragged some distance before being knocked to the ground. When she tried to get back up, witnesses saw her stumble and struggle before walking away.

The video, captured by Bach Ha, shows her standing up and staggering.

“When he drove off, I think she just hit the ground because of this, and when she got up, she was like dazed,” Ha said.

It is unclear whether the woman was taken to hospital after the attack. It is also unclear at this time whether the suspect has been identified by police or taken into custody.

The victim, who does not want to be named, is satisfied with her performance.

“I’m pissed off because this guy was looking for someone and I feel violated,” she said. “I feel violated, but I feel good because I fought,” she told KTVU.

However, not everyone applauds the brave act. Law enforcement officials advise against taking such actions.

Police Chief Joshi told KTVU that victims never engage or pursue their attacker. There is tremendous risk and danger associated with that, he said.

“Personal items can be replaced, but personal safety, that’s something we never want to compromise,” Joshi told KTVU.

“My heart goes out to her. I think the natural instinct or inclination is to try and get your property back. But there are many risks involved. And in this case she was injured,” the police chief added.

Local residents are shocked by the incident and the woman’s reaction.

“People react without knowing they are reacting,” said a concerned resident.

Last month, there was another incident where an adult fought a thief in California.

A California man confronted a burglar who ransacked his home business and stole $25,000 worth of equipment in his own backyard.

Podcaster Daniel Lobell, 40, feared for his family’s safety after a man broke into his home in May and stole expensive recording equipment from his home office in West Los Angeles.

Still reeling from the experience, the host of the Modern Day Philosophers show was shocked to see the criminal back in his yard a few hours after the robbery.

“I look down as I walk because I’m so upset, and I look up and there’s the guy, back two hours later to remove his fingerprints,” the comedian told KTLA.

“I told him, ‘I’m going to kill you,’ and I went after him. I tried to grab the trampoline from the play thing to use as a weapon, but I couldn’t get it out.’

Video captured on the homeowner’s CCTV shows him chasing the burglar before the pair are caught on opposite sides of a child’s slide.

The thief then flees and Lobell tries to catch him in the back of the bus, which he has converted into a recording studio.

“I haven’t been able to sleep for days and every sound makes me jump up to protect my family,” he said of the incident.
