Marjorie Taylor Greene faces an uncertain future within the far-right Freedom Caucus due to her close McCarthy ties as the internal GOP struggle shows no signs of slowing down

  • On Friday, the House Freedom Caucus discussed removing her from their 40-member group of incendiary conservatives
  • The group did not reach a final conclusion on whether or not to expel Greene

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has long been the most public face of Congress’s right wing, but now she appears to be on the run within a group of her conservative allies.

On Friday, the House Freedom Caucus discussed removing her from their 40-member band of inflammatory conservatives, based on her close relationship with Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

The group did not reach a final conclusion on whether or not to oust Greene – a move that would be unprecedented since the group’s formation in 2015 – a well-known source confirmed to DailyMail.com.

A spokesperson for Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., declined to comment on the move to oust the Georgia Republican.

A spokesperson for Greene could not be reached for comment.

Never one to shy away from dominating the news cycle, Greene has not directly responded to the reports himself. But after news of the impeachment debate, she did tweet, β€œThe specialty of the media is dividing Republicans. It’s time Republicans stopped being sucked into playing the stupid game. Defeat the Democrats’ America Last agenda and save America.”

β€œI donated to you, I defended you. But you’ve been nothing but a little b***h to me,” Greene told Boebert, sources told the Daily Beast, which Greene later confirmed. “And you copied my articles of impeachment after I asked you to co-sponsor them.”

Greene was a political headache for then Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy when she was elected in 2020.

Democrats removed her from committees and McCarthy was forced to distance herself from her embrace of QAnon and claims that 9/11 and the Parkland School shooting were staged from the inside.

But since the Republicans came to power early this year, McCarthy has Greene squarely in his camp. The congressman called President Donald Trump with McCarthy defectors during January’s 20-vote speaker race.

Once McCarthy crossed the finish line, he placed her in high-profile posts on the Oversight and Homeland Security committees, where she can participate in the investigation of the Biden family.

Both Greene and McCarthy have maintained an alliance with Trump. Greene is strongly in favor of his re-election in 2024, while McCarthy has objected when asked about the presidential race.

But Trump may not have the power with the Freedom Caucus he once had. Some of McCarthy’s most outspoken opponents β€” Representatives Ken Buck, Colo., and Chip Roy, Texas β€” have opposed Trump’s push to decertify Biden voters.

Roy and Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., have endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for president. Rep. Ralph Norman has endorsed fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley.

Since the speaker’s race, McCarthy’s right-wing opponents have forced him to work overtime to get votes, even for the party-line debt ceiling bill β€” the Limit, Save, Grow Act.

The negotiated debt deal garnered more votes from Democrats than Republicans, once again thwarting conservative opponents. Weeks later, they stopped the floor trade in protest and dropped the widely popular gas stove legislation.

Things moved forward after McCarthy agreed to renegotiate a power-sharing deal with Freedom Caucus members.

But Republicans like Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and Matt Rosendale, R-Mont., repeatedly threatened to paralyze the room if they weren’t happy with the changes in the speaker’s leadership style.
