Brendan Rodgers insists he is NOT worried about Celtic predecessor Ange Postecoglou raiding the club for his old players after Tottenham were linked with two of his key players

  • Returning Celtic boss Rodgers admitted he is not worried about losing players
  • Postecoglou joined Tottenham this summer after a successful spell in Scotland
  • Spurs have been linked with moves for Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate

Brendan Rodgers insists he will not lose sleep over the prospect of Ange Postecoglou returning to Celtic to loot his former players.

Top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi and Japanese international midfielder Reo Hatate have been linked with moves to the Australian at Tottenham Hotspur.

Winger Jota and former Spurs center back Cameron CarterVickers have also been named as possible targets.

Impressed with the player structure put in place by Head of Recruitment Mark Lawwell, Rodgers says he is relaxed about the possibility of players moving elsewhere and believes Celtic are well placed to replace them.

“Over the course of our conversations, I’ve seen what market we’re in and how well the recruitment has gone,” he said.

“Mark Lawwell has this pipeline of players available and it’s really impressive what he’s done since coming in and the markets he’s been able to tap into.

‘That continues. That’s where the club is. Listen, if you have top players at the club, they will always attract attention elsewhere.

“Those guys have come in and done exceptionally well. Good players will always attract attention. But I’m not worried about that.’

Spurs will complete their first signing under Postecoglou as goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario joins from Empoli for £17 million.

James Maddison has also been heavily linked with a move to London and it is believed Spurs gain confidence over a deal for the midfielder, who Rodgers previously managed at Leicester.
