Manchester United are reportedly frustrated with Chelsea over their negotiations for Mason Mount, with the Blues leaking information about failed bids to the media.
The Red Devils saw a third bid of £55 million rejected by the Blues on Friday after declaring it would be their last bid for Mount.
However, Erik ten Hag’s side are expected to continue negotiations as Chelsea have offered a face-to-face meeting to discuss the deal.
As reported by Manchester evening newsUnited are ‘unhappy’ with Chelsea as director of football John Murtough is reportedly frustrated when the Blues relayed United’s bids through dedicated London correspondents.
By leaking this information to the media, it has undermined the Red Devils, who further believe that Chelsea is ‘over-valuing’ Mount.
Mason Mount has been one of Manchester United’s main targets in midfield this summer
Man United saw a £55 million bid rejected for the Chelsea star and will return to negotiations
Mount would be Erik ten Hag’s preferred choice, but there are alternative options
The report still says that as his contract expires next year and he wants to leave, United disagree with Chelsea’s valuation.
In addition, Mount is Ten Hag’s preferred option, but United have at least four other midfield options that would be considered ‘acceptable’ if they cannot bring Mount in.
It is believed they finalized a “long list of goals by job” in April and that the manager has already held virtual meetings with potential goals.
While Chelsea responded immediately with a £58 million plus £7 million deal, it remains to be seen whether the Manchester club is prepared to live up to this valuation.
Negotiations are expected to continue as the Blues have secured £65 million for the Cobham graduate.
