Windows 11 has a hidden ’emergency restart’ feature you probably don’t know about

There’s nothing worse than a computer crashing during an important presentation or at the climax of a movie.

But it turns out that Windows 11 has a hidden “emergency restart” feature that might just save you the stress in these situations.

Although this tool is far from new, Windows Central shone a light two days ago in an effort to lend a helping hand to troubled users.

So if a computer stops responding at all, users can just press the three buttons Ctrl, Alt and Delete.

If the PC has Windows 11, it should open a Task Manager, which allows users to view running applications and login options.

Shutdown, restart, and sleep buttons are also included and should be located at the bottom of the screen.

But if none of these options work, users can hold Ctrl again while tapping Power – the little icon at the bottom of a screen.

This should open an emergency menu and, if users click ‘ok’, a reboot will occur.

When you do this, it’s important to note that all unsaved documents, files and work will be lost.

The hack is primarily intended as a last resort for the cases where a computer interface crashes completely.

But this is by no means the only hack available to Windows users with a QWERTY keyboard.

Others include using keys such as Scroll Lock and Menu, which are often overlooked by users.

For example, Scroll Lock can be used to change the behavior of certain program functions, such as scrolling capabilities.

In general, when using Excel, the arrow keys can be moved to scroll up or down cell by cell when Scroll Lock is off.

However, when enabled, the arrow keys can be used to move faster through the worksheet area – one row up/down or one column left/right at a time.

Meanwhile, the menu button – which looks like a mini page with a few lines on it – can also come in handy.

When pressed, it has the same effect as right-clicking, opening a context menu for the current application in use.

While this key is often forgotten, it can come in handy for those who find it inconvenient to click on a laptop mouse pad.

This tool allows computer users to avoid the pad altogether, as arrow keys can also be used to scroll through each menu option.

The Enter button can then be pressed to select a chosen option, with your hands never leaving the keyboard once.
