Although based on the 1991 Disney animated film, the magical tale was first turned into a Broadway theatrical production in April 1994.
Thomas Schumacher, president of Disney Theatrical Productions, said of bringing the production to Australia: ‘We are excited to return to Australia with Beauty And The Beast as reimagined by members of the brilliant original creative team.
“This beloved show — and Belle herself — are somehow as contemporary today as they were when the movie premiered in 1991; even more meaningful to those who first discovered them decades ago and to an entirely new generation.
“Each time we have returned to Australia over the past quarter century, we see the audience grow larger and more appreciative and the deep pool of extraordinary homegrown musical theater talent deeper still. We can’t wait to come back.’
