The prequel series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — which has already been renewed for season three — began its 10-episode second season on June 15 on Paramount+.
None of the above would have been possible if Lucille Ball, head of Desilu Productions, hadn’t green-lit Gene Roddenberry’s original pilot for Star Trek in 1964.
The sci-fi chapter with a diverse cast aired on NBC for three seasons (1966-1969), followed by six feature films, grossing $2.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
Set ten years before the original 1960s series, Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike and the starship crew as they explore new worlds across the galaxy.
In the series, Rebecca Una Chin-Riley, also known as Number One, plays the first officer of the Enterprise and Pike’s second-in-command.
It also comes after Rebecca and husband Jerry O’Connell revealed the secrets behind keeping the spark alive in their 15-year marriage.
In an exclusive conversation with DailyMail.com at the Vanderpump Dog Gala, the fun-loving couple said the trick was to keep things “light” — and also joked that teenage kids kept them from breaking up.
Rebecca, 50, and Jerry, 49, married in 2007 and share 14-year-old twin daughters Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose.

“When you have teenage kids, they become a problem,” Jerry joked.
“So you sneak out together!” Rebecca joined in.
“You also get too scared to break up because one of us could get full custody and we’re scared of that, so we try to stick together,” Jerry said.
Rebecca said their ability to lighten up and find humor in things was a key ingredient to their successful marriage.
“I think we’ll just keep laughing,” Rebecca said. ‘Keep it light. You have to be lighthearted about everything. You have to be able to move on quickly.’
For Jerry, he tries to avoid conflict.
“When a fight breaks out, I try not to get involved. I’m trying to distance myself,” he said.
“You’re not very good at that,” Rebecca said. “Jerry isn’t very good at that.”
Jerry insisted, “I’m very good at that! I quit!’
‘Not always!’ said Rebecca.
“I’m running out of the house, I’m getting out of there!” he said. ‘I am gone! If I think there’s a fight, I run away! My wife is also a Scorpio. It’s a different situation.’
