  • Responsibilities include ‘arranging play dates, vet appointments and food’

A US billionaire family offers a whopping $127,000 a year to a “observant” dog sitter to care for their posh four-legged friends.

The baffling online job posting calls for an “exceptional and highly experienced” employee to provide “unparalleled care and attention” to their two large dogs.

The full-time nanny would be required to live with the family in Knightsbridge, central London, but could fly with the spoiled pets when the family is travelling.

The unique ad claims that they need to organize play dates with other dogs, food supplies, vet appointments and keep detailed records of their health.

The perfect family applicant will need knowledge of dog nutrition so they can develop a “personalized exercise regimen” and play with the spoiled four-legged friends.

George Ralph-Dunn, of the Fairfax and Kensington recruiting firm, which is acting on behalf of the family, says the mammoth $127,000 salary is “unheard of” in the industry.

However, the sitter should “drop everything” and “put their private life on the backburner” to put the dogs’ welfare first.

The successful candidate is also expected to implement “strict security measures” to keep the dogs safe in what is described as a “high-profile environment” – suggesting that the owners may be celebrities or figures in the public eye.

George said he’s had more than 300 applications for the role so far, and the company plans to narrow down the hopefuls before conducting strict background checks and family trials.

He said: ‘With these jobs, the clients were looking for someone yesterday and we’ve already had between 300 and 400 applications.

“Everyone is suddenly a dog sitter. The perfect person would be a small character and blend well into the background and then stand out when needed.

“The customers are billionaires looking for the very best service, so when it comes to their dogs, they are happy to pay. This is the first role we have offered of its kind.”

“The salary associated with it is quite unheard of. Even as a vet you would struggle to make that amount of money.

‘If money is no object, people want the best and you attract the best, with the best salary.

“You have six weeks off a year, but when you deal with this kind of client and they want to go to Monaco tomorrow, you’re on a private jet with those dogs.”

George said he can’t give details about the dogs or the clients, but he hopes to complete the intensive recruiting process by the end of the month.
