However, his future is unlikely to lie with the French champion. Director Luis Campos is looking to thin out his side’s roster as he once again seeks his side’s first Champions League title.
Wijnaldum is one of the players likely to leave, with several possible destinations including a return to the Netherlands or a possible move to Saudi Arabia.

While Wijnaldum wouldn’t earn the same, he’s reportedly looking for a hefty pay raise to move, a deal officials involved in a possible transfer are seemingly reluctant to dish out.
PSV and Ajax would both be interested in bringing the former Liverpool midfielder back to his homeland, and while it’s an option, it’s not Wijnaldum’s preferred destination.
It is believed that if he doesn’t move to Saudi Arabia he will want to continue playing at one of Europe’s top clubs, although the 32-year-old appears to have been shot at offers at the moment.
He made just 14 appearances for Roma during his loan spell, as he suffered a serious leg injury, and will be looking to restart his career next season.
