Jack Grealish insists he has no regrets over Manchester City’s boozy Treble celebrations

Jack Grealish has downplayed criticism of Manchester City’s wild Treble celebrations after describing it as ‘the best weekend of my life’.

Pep Guardiola’s history makers recently enjoyed a four-day period of drinking and partying – in Istanbul, Manchester and Ibiza – in the wake of their Treble success.

Grealish became the face of the festivities and was regularly pictured with a drink in hand.

The wild partying meant the former Aston Villa star resigned himself to playing just 32 minutes in England’s recent Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and Macedonia.

Despite his supporting role in the games, Grealish admits he has no regrets about his actions and later praised City’s ‘incredible’ performance.

Speak against talkSPORT, Grealish was asked if he’d been bothered by any criticism of the celebrations, to which he replied, ‘Not really. I had done something that only happens once in a lifetime. The last time it was done… I don’t know when Man United did it, but it hasn’t been done for ages.

So why not celebrate like this? Everyone was with me. I was not alone, I went out with my friends. I was with the whole team.

‘We enjoyed it on Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I had the best weekend of my life. I had just won the Champions League and I was so emotional afterwards.

“I was probably on the biggest emotional high I’ve ever had. The manager didn’t tell me, but I knew I wouldn’t be playing on Friday.’

Grealish was left as an unused substitute in England’s 4-0 win over Malta on Friday night, before making a brief cameo against Macedonia on Monday.

Although he failed to score a goal in the 7-0 win, the City star insists he is ‘feeling good’ despite the heavy partying.

“Last weekend was the best weekend I’ve ever had. I’m still trying to deal with it. I’ve been so high for the past week,” he said.

‘I feel fine. I trained on Wednesday and Thursday and felt good. Obviously I felt good on Saturday and Sunday.

“I came in today and I felt good. No matter what you do in life, there will always be people in the background who criticize you. It’s part of life.

My full priority is England. That’s why I was in camp on Tuesday night. Of course I had a good weekend, it was the best weekend of my life.’

Grealish was a prominent part of City’s Treble celebrations, helping kick-start proceedings shortly after the final whistle in Istanbul.

The winger sang along with Fleetwood Mac, while the players enjoyed various drinks and danced with the trophy.

Grealish then joined his teammates for more Sunday morning Champions League celebrations, although still wearing his kit from the night before.

He then, along with a large group of teammates including Haaland, Phil Foden and Kalvin Phillips, flew to Ibiza for a night of partying in anticipation of a return for today’s trophy parade.

Mail Sport – who exclusively revealed the details of the 12-hour party trip – understands that those involved – which does not include manager Pep Guardiola – have chartered a private jet from Manchester to the Balearic Island to celebrate their historic exploits in style.

The winger returns with his teammates on Monday morning ahead of the team’s trophy parade through Manchester City centre.

Grealish took his Instagram followers live to the festivities, showing himself drenched in beer as the festivities erupted.

With the season over and with it the festivities, Grealish took to social media to thank fans for supporting City’s ‘incredible’ season and insisted he’d had ‘the best weekend of my life’.

On Twitter, he wrote: ‘Wow… what a season! This really comes from my heart… The whole season has been incredible but especially the last weekend was the best weekend of my life!

Winning the Champions League and especially winning the treble was something I could hardly dream of when I signed for City.

“I want to thank all the fans for the incredible support week in and week out as well as all the city staff, especially those behind the scenes who don’t get to see people contribute so much!

‘Honestly what a club!! Time to enjoy my summer with my family and friends… See you all in 4 weeks for the pre-season.”
