DMA’s are the red hot favourite to take out triple J’s Hottest 100 Like a Version

Triple J’s special Hottest 100 featuring only “Like a Versions” from the past 20 years looking to be snapped up by the Sydney outfit.

Over the past two decades, triple J’s “Like a Version” has become a staple in workplaces across Australia, with listeners eagerly tuning in every Friday morning to hear their favourite artists putting their own creative spin on songs that inspire them.

But out of the 800+ songs, and from 670+ talented artists from all over the world that have taken part in Like a Version since 2004 – Sydney-based DMA’s are a clear favourite to win the unique countdown.

My Betting Sites Australia have compared all online bookmakers in the country offering Triple J’s Hottest 100 Like a Version Odds and found DMA’s cover of “Believe” (originally by Cher), to be paying $1.40, at the highest.

DMA’s had previously approached triple J with eight other song ideas that were turned down, until they finally agreed to the Cher cover – which they admitted in an interview with Euphoria that it was half put forward as a joke.

Sitting in a clear second spot is Floridian rapper Denzel Curry, for his rendition of Bulls on Parade (originally by Rage Against The Machine), which is paying $3.00-$5.90 across various betting sites.

Denzel Curry is just one of two US artists as a top ten favourite across online bookmakers, with the other being Childish Gambino, with his cover of So Into You (Tamia) – which is paying $26.00-$34.00.

The heavily saturated Aussie list features seven homegrown artists in the top ten favourites including children’s artist The Wiggles for their cover of “Elephant” (Tame Impala) paying $11.00.

The Wiggles surprised everyone by becoming the first band to win the Triple J Hottest 100 from a “Like a Version” in the 2021 countdown.

There is only one addition in the top ten favorites from the UK, with rock band Arctic Monkeys and their version of “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” (Tame Impala) paying between $11.00-$34.00.

Voting for the Hottest 100 Like a Version closes on July 10 12:00pm AEST, and the countdown begins on July 15 12:00pm AEST.
