Anna Sorokin gets irritable in first TV interview since release from prison with Chris Cuomo

False heiress Anna Sorokin asked NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo “how many times do I have to apologize?” in her first television interview since her release from prison.

The 32-year-old con man was granted $10,000 bail from a federal immigration court after spending 18 months in jail last October.

She gave her first TV interview to Cuomo from her Manhattan apartment, while the host Sorokin tried to figure out if she really regretted her years as a serial con artist.

Cuomo noted that showing some real remorse would have helped her, as a judge sentenced her to four to 12 years in 2019 after saying she appeared to have no regrets.

Sorokin snapped at Cuomo and said, “That didn’t happen.” Where did you get that information? That never happened, I had the option. He reported that the judge rejected the deal.’

“The court records,” Cuomo replied, which led him to ask if Sorokin was tired of being asked if she was truly sorry, as he had just done.

Sorokin claimed that people have taken things out of context and believe she did everything the Netflix series inspired by her, Inventing Anna, said she did.

“You know you did part of it, you were convicted by a jury,” Cuomo said, noting that all of her appeals have been denied.

She argued that her criminal appeal, which has not even been filed, is “still pending.”

“I’m not responsible for how fast the system moves, I’m sorry,” she added.

Cuomo then noted that the appeal had not been filed, which seemed to irk the fake heiress even more.

“How familiar are you with the New York criminal justice system?” asked Sorokin.

“Too familiar,” Cuomo answered dryly, before asking if she had indeed filed her criminal appeal.

Sorokin became transfixed and shot back: “Too familiar? It doesn’t sound like that’

“Let’s say I did,” she said then. “My criminal appeal is pending. It’s publicly available information.”

Cuomo then chose to move on and asked one more time if she felt that apologizing would help her get past this.

“Yeah I mean and I said I regret a lot of decisions I made when I was younger and I think I should be given the chance to move on with my life,” she said. ‘How many times will I apologize? I paid my refund in full before I was released from prison. How many people can say that?’

Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey, had captured her lavish lifestyle as a con artist in the 2022 miniseries ‘Inventing Anna’.

The show tells the story of a woman who tricks New York’s elite into believing she is an heiress to a large fortune in order to secure a personal treasure trove of money and goods while searching for an art-themed club.

The ‘Soho Grifter’ posed as a German heiress with a fortune of 60 million euros before she was discovered and arrested.

Despite being sentenced to four years in prison in April 2019, Delvey was released on good behavior until she was arrested again for overstaying her visa.

She has since been grounded in her East Village apartment in Manhattan and recently announced the launch of a podcast, recorded under house arrest.

Guests would include Emily Ratajkowski, Julia Fox and Whitney Cummings as she discusses “what it means to be a rule breaker.”

Delvey has continued to clash with her former attorney, who she says has failed to hand over the documents she needs to challenge an eviction notice and appeal her conviction.

In March of this year, Thomas collapsed in court when she faced Delvey in Manhattan civil court.

She said, ‘My heart hurts me! I need an ambulance!’

After a brief delay as the former attorney was wheeled out of the courtroom on a stretcher, Delvey emerged victorious as the judge ordered Thomas to hand over the documents.

Thomas was disbarred in November after allegedly stealing money from an elderly client.

In the new court papers seen by the New York Postshe referred to this, saying that her suspension “does not wipe out the balance owed by the defendant.”

Thomas was detained for contempt of court and fined $1,000 a day “until she either returns the materials or gives an explanation” of their whereabouts.

After being dropped by Delvey, Thomas sent two batches of the deportation documents to Delvey’s new legal team earlier in August.

However, according to the lawsuit against her, she “did not hand over any of the digital audio recordings of (Delvey’s) immigration court hearings.”

The convicted fraudster also alleged that Thomas withheld her personal belongings, claiming she hides the items because she has a “vendetta” against her.

After completing her criminal sentence in February 2021 — for grand larceny convictions and thefts totaling $275,000, including stealing at least one flight on a private jet — Sorokin was held by ICE for 18 months.

She was released from ICE custody on October 7. Judge Charles R. Conroy ruled that Sorokin posed no danger to the public and would be placed under house arrest while she fights deportation to Germany.

She wrote an exclusive piece for DailyMail.com in September complaining that the US immigration system is broken, saying she had spent 18 months “in the sinkhole of the US immigration system.”
