A man has been missing for nine days, enduring sub-zero temperatures in a heavily forested area of Queensland.
Luke Ferguson, 28, was last seen walking out of a South Burnett property just after midday on June 9.
A major search is underway as military personnel, SES volunteers and aerial technology are used to comb hundreds of square miles of a heavily forested area in hopes of finding Mr. Ferguson alive.
There are serious concerns for his well-being due to a medical condition and the impact of several nights of sub-zero temperatures in the wilderness.
Police, SES, family, friends and the community are still searching for missing South Burnett man Luke Ferguson (pictured)
A radius of five kilometers has become the focus of the large-scale search
A search is underway in the three-mile radius of the Proston Abbeywood Road site where he was last seen.
The search – including 20 local landowners, 40 ADF personnel, 24 SES volunteers and several police officers – took off early Saturday morning and will end at last daylight.
Three locals on horseback follow large open farm areas and multiple drones scan surrounding farmlands.
Dirt bike police are assisting the search, while all-terrain vehicles are being used to search nearby townships east of Proston and south of Kinleymore.
Local residents are urged to search and recheck their properties and report any sightings of Luke.
They are warned that his medical condition may make him appear disoriented.
The 28-year-old has a medical condition and has not been seen for nine days
Passing motorists who have given Luke a lift, or seen him, are urged to get in touch.
He is described as white, about 5’7″ tall, with a proportionate build, brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Luke’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Police remain in close contact with Luke’s family as the search and rescue operation continues.
