‘Petrified’ driver spots big cat prowling Welsh village and believes it may be a leopard

A ‘petrified’ driver saw a big cat prowling a village in Wales and thinks it may have been a leopard.

Morgan Taylor, 22, said he was making an order in Rassau, Blaenau Gwent, when he saw the creature.

A video shows a large spotted cat wandering on a grassy bank by the side of the road.

Morgan said, “I was driving back home and I had seen something in the bushes that looked a little ragged.

“So I slowed down in my car—my windows were down at this point—and as he approached out of the bushes, I put my windows straight up.”

He added: ‘At first I thought it was a leopard. I can’t lie. It was huge. I wouldn’t say it was the size of a toddler – it was even bigger.

The video doesn’t do it justice. It was about five feet, maybe six feet at a push—it was a very, very big cat.”

Morgan, from nearby Blaina, said he recorded the sighting on his phone Wednesday.

He said, “I was terrified; that’s the only word I can tell you. I felt like I had seen a ghost.

“At first glance I thought it would come to me because it was a big cat.

“It didn’t make a sound, just seemed like it was investigating something.”

After the images were posted on Facebook, this led to heated discussions.

It particularly divided the UK’s big cats – a community that insists there’s an elusive population of feral big cats roaming around.

Some said it was a lynx, maybe a bobcat, or even a leopard.

One person wrote, “Absolutely clear and probably the best, most definitive footage of a big cat I’ve seen.”

Others suggested it was a Savannah cat, a Bengal, or some other large domestic cat.

Morgan said, “My wife says it’s a Savannah cat, but I’m adamant it was a lynx.

“It looked like a leopard cub just coming of age.”

The experience has led him to believe that there are big cats living in the wild in Britain.

“Having seen this, yes, 100 percent I believe it is,” he said.

In a message addressed to all doubters, he said: ‘I would say come to Rassau and see for yourself, because believe me, they will turn and run.

“I’m lucky because I was in my car because otherwise I could have run for miles; I wouldn’t have looked back either.’
