Nick Kyrgios famously won the Australian Open doubles with good friend Thanasi Kokkinakis, but he has hinted that he had brushed up on his fellow Aussie to pair up with Jack Sock at the US Open.

The polarizing 2022 Wimbledon finalist has just returned to the field after six months injury-free and hopes to be in top form for the grass-court season.

After that, Kyrgios will be eyeing the US Open, where he is likely to link up with Sock despite winning the 2022 Australian Open double with Kokkinakis.

Sock ranks at a low 267 in the world in singles, but has risen in doubles with a rise to 91.

He was previously No. 2 in the world in doubles and reached out to Kyrgios via Twitter to poll him for the US Open.

‘Nick Kyrgios wants to do some doubles at the US Open?’ Sock asked.

‘Yeah…………..let’s give them a show,’ Kyrgios replied.

Sock has won four ATP singles titles and 17 doubles titles to date, and is ranked No. 8 in singles and No. 2 in doubles.

The American has also tried his hands at pickleball, recently competing in the Professional Pickleball Association’s North Carolina Open and winning the mixed doubles title with top partner Anna Leigh Water.

Kyrgios co-owns Miami Pickleball Club alongside four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and other celebrities such as American soccer player Patrick Mahomes and musician Kygo.

Kyrgios and Sock have previously played together in doubles. They united as part of Team World at the 2018 Rod Laver Cup, defeating Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin before ultimately losing to Team Europe.

The duo also paired up at the 2021 Atlanta Open where they advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to American Steve Johnson and Aussie Jordan Thompson.

However, Kyrgios teamed up with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in Melbourne last year to capture the duo’s first doubles title and some fans were unimpressed that they won’t be reuniting at Flushing Meadows.

“Kokki looks like…” one fan posted with a series of crying emojis.

‘Kokki in the mud????? Doubles is your only slam chance bro you both go side by side with a bro,” another tweeted.

“Man the cook being chased again,” added another.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis were set to play doubles at Wimbledon last year before withdrawing to focus on their singles campaigns, with Kyrgios reaching the final against Novak Djokovic.

It had been hoped they would reunite at the 2023 Australian Open, but Kyrgios was forced to pull out with a knee injury.

He also missed the French Open before returning to the Stuttgart Open this week where he lost to China’s Wu Yibing in straight sets.

Kyrgios clearly felt uncomfortable during the match and urged his fans to be patient with him.

“It’s a process of getting back to where I was. I know it’s hard for you to see me perform like today, but I need more time and hopefully I can get back to where I was.’
