Nottingham Forest are close to completing the signing of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

Steve Cooper’s side are in discussions with the Belgian’s representatives as they look to get a deal over the line before the transfer deadline this evening.

The 28-year-old could become Forest’s 21st signing of the summer, with Willy Boly joining earlier today and Blackpool’s Josh Bowler also expected to sign this evening.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are also interested in the Belgian’s services but Forest are confident in getting a deal over the line.

Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2016 before going on to score 25 goals in 77 appearances for the Blues, but quickly fell out of favour in west London.

The 28-year-old has since had loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace, Valencia and Besiktas – which is where he spent last season.

Batshuayi could prove a useful asset to Forest having scored 14 goals in 33 appearances in Turkey last year.

The addition could take Forest’s summer spending past £145m as Cooper’s side continue to attract attention with their eye-watering summer transfer spree.

Batshuayi could be the third player to come through the Forest door on deadline day, after Willy Boly’s move from Wolves and Josh Bowler’s imminent arrival from Blackpool.

Boly joined the club in a deal worth an initial £2.25m, meanwhile Bowler will join for £2m and will be sent on loan to their sister club Olympiacos.

Bowler made 41 appearances across four seasons for the club’s development team before he spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Hull City.
