Tottenham target Marc Guehi ‘could cost as much as £60M’ as Ange Postecoglou’s side ‘prepare for a transfer to the England international in the coming weeks’

According to reports, Tottenham could make a transfer to Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in the coming weeks.

With Ange Postecoglou set to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur from July 1, he seems to have wasted little time in highlighting where his side need to strengthen after a disappointing campaign.

The Australian is believed to be after proven Premier League stars, with defense being a particularly important point in his recruitment plans.

Guehi has reportedly been on Spurs’ radar for a long time, but plans to sign the England international could be accelerated early in the transfer window.

However, one potential pitfall in the North London club’s search for the highly regarded defender is the asking price. according to Ben Jacobs.

Reports suggest Spurs may have to pay as much as £60 million for the 22-year-old Palace star.

Guehi – an Ivory Coast native – has three years left on his current contract at Selhurst Park, so Palace certainly won’t be in a rush to sell and can demand a higher fee from their city rivals.

The England international, who could play for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions on Friday and Monday, has become one of the brightest defensive talents in the country since moving from Chelsea.

The 22-year-old missed just one game in the Premier League last season and kept nine clean sheets during the tenures of both Patrick Vieira and Roy Hodgson.

He’s not the only target in the back for Tottenham Hotspur, if reports are to be believed, with Wolves’ Max Kilman also reportedly of interest.

They have also been heavily linked with a move from Manchester United’s disgraced captain Harry Maguire this summer.

As Mail Sport previously reported, the club has been monitoring the England international’s situation at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag’s side believed to be willing to let him go.

Postecoglou’s appointment as manager on a four-year contract sees the 57-year-old play a key role in setting the club’s goals, with their recruitment plans expected to accelerate now that their manager has been installed.

Away from central defence, Spurs have been linked with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, while Hugo Lloris’ career at Tottenham Hotspur appears to be coming to an end.

The experienced World Cup winner is said to have informed the club that he would prefer to return to France before ending his career.

However, the Bees’ £40 million valuation of the Spanish stopper is thought to be one Spurs are unwilling to meet, potentially paving the way for the likes of Man United and Chelsea.

Mail Sport also exclusively reported that Spurs had made a joint bid for both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes worth more than £50 million.
