Phoebe Waller-Bridge discusses Indiana Jones’ future
Phoebe Waller-Bridge reveals if she thinks Indiana Jones will ever return without co-star Harrison Ford as she discusses the franchise’s future
Phoebe Waller-Bridge weighed in on the future of Indiana Jones as she attended the premiere of the fifth installment, Dial of Destiny, on Wednesday night.
The actress, 37, insisted the franchise wouldn’t be revived with someone other than Harrison Ford for helping create “a perfect moment in movie history.”
Phoebe, who plays the part Helena Shaw, the traveling archaeologist’s goddaughter, spoke on the subject during the LA screening in the latest film in the fantasy action series.
When asked if the films could be revived without Harrison, she said, “I don’t think it should be. I think he’s Indiana Jones and I think he’s Indiana Jones.
“The magical chemistry between that script and Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford is a perfect moment in movie history.”

James Mangold directed the latest episode while Steven [Spielberg] was at the helm of the first four films.
Phoebe added that she thinks James did “the nicest job” of bringing the series to a close.
“It was great to stand next to Harrison, poke and prod him and be annoying as Helena the whole movie. It was incredible,” she said.
The film sees Ford return as Indiana Jones, more than 40 years after his first role in 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
Phoebe first found her feet at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she debuted her hit series Fleabag as a one-woman show in 2013.
After winning the Fringe First Award, it was adapted into a BBC sitcom that won a host of Bafta, Emmy, and Golden Globe awards.
The actress admitted that she felt “all of Edinburgh” at the premiere, with the streets crowded and the barricades surrounding the area.
Reflecting on her career trajectory, she said, “Every moment is a squeeze. I distance myself a bit. It’s not until you leave these things behind that you go home and think, “What just happened?”

“But I love all these people so much. I love every person involved in the movie.
‘We had such a good time. I really had the time of my life making this movie, I loved it so much. So it’s just so much fun to be with everyone to celebrate.”
The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen as villain Jurgen Voller and Toby Jones as Basil Shaw, an ally of Jones.
Asked why he thinks the series resonates so deeply with fans, Toby told PA, “Who doesn’t like adventure? Who doesn’t like being led through an adventure by a funny, tongue-in-cheek, brave, handsome, courageous figure – who doesn’t like that?
And it seems to change the tone in a way that people love. That something that’s really interesting about it is how it has to be funny and serious at the same time.”
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny opens in UK cinemas on June 28.
