Man United fans moan about Wolves curtain-raiser, hitting out at PL for making fans ‘suffer’

‘Start the season with one of the worst games…at home at 8pm on a Monday night’: Man United fans complain about Wolves curtain raiser, lash out in Premier League for making fans ‘suffer’

Manchester United fans have reached a fixture list that sees them open their 2023/24 season with one of their ‘worst’ matches.

The Red Devils’ first game in the 2023-24 Premier League is at home against Wolves at 8pm on a Monday night, a game many fans don’t seem too thrilled about.

Their season then becomes more difficult as they face both North London clubs in their first four games, with a home game against Nottingham Forest in between, before hosting Brighton, who took the double over them last season.

However, it was the Wolves game that United fans seemed most saddened about, as fans joked that the season ‘could only get better’ after starting with one of ‘the worst’ matches.

Some felt the Premier League didn’t think about ‘match-going fans’ and made them ‘suffer’ by giving the Red Devils a weekday game to start the season, while others questioned why they ‘always’ played on Monday nights.

The Wolves game is currently United’s only Monday night kick-off of the season, but most fans seemed to agree it was ‘disappointing’ not to start their campaign over the weekend.

However, there were others who felt that Wolves were ‘not too bad’ an opponent to play first, arguing that the calendar was ‘good’ with the exception of December and April.

The final stretch of 2023 looks tough for Erik ten Hag’s side, with games against Newcastle, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool, West Ham and Aston Villa in the space of 24 days.

April doesn’t look much better as they take on Chelsea, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Burnley, although it’s worth noting that United played three games out of the league in April.

If they reach the final stages of the FA Cup or any European competition, their schedule may need to be adjusted accordingly.

As for other big games, the first Manchester derby will take place at Old Trafford in October, while the second leg will take place at the Etihad in early March.

Their last two games of the season are at home against Arsenal and away against Brighton, games that are already likely to make up the top six.
