Are YOU tired of spam calls? Here is how to block ‘no caller ID’ on your iPhone

>

It’s annoying and scary to see “No Caller ID” appear on your phone – scammers usually use this disguise when calling their victims.

Apple has a hidden hack for iPhone users that lives in Settings that, if activated, blocks such calls.

The Silence Unknown Callers feature can easily be toggled to become one, but the downside is that it also blocks most numbers that haven’t been added to your contacts yet.

And iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus or older models do not support the feature.

It doesn’t just happen by accident. A caller who appears on your phone as “Unknown” or “No Caller ID” has deliberately taken extra steps to hide their return phone number from you

Apple’s Silence Unknown Callers feature is new in an update to the iPhone iOS 13 operating system in 2019.

So if you really think you need the ability to block unknown calls, you should consider upgrading your phone.

Some third party call blocking apps for iPhone like the Mr. Number apprequires iOS 13 or later.

But if your iPhone is up to date and you are ready to be free from spam callers, here’s what you need to do.

How to Block ‘No Caller ID’ on iPhone

Step 1. Navigate to the “Settings” app on your iPhone’s home screen. It’s the one that looks like a gray gear.

Step 2. Once you’re in settings, scroll down to the green Apple ‘Phone’ app settings – tap it.

Step 3. At the bottom of the menu on this screen for the iPhone’s phone-specific settings, you should see the “Silence Unknown Callers” option at the bottom.

Tap to go to the next menu.

Step 4. Now all you have to do is flip the switch to block ‘no caller ID’ calls.

But there are a few caveats.

First, this feature will mute, but not completely block, these mysterious calls. These numbers can still leave your voicemail messages, something you might be grateful for if a loved one is in trouble and contacts a strange new phone.

If you really need to block these calls, it’s best to contact your carrier directly or download a third-party app like Mr. Number, which blocks callers for you.

Users may appreciate that the iPhone’s operating system takes a few liberties with muting. For example, sometimes iPhone iOS allows unknown callers if their number is associated with a recent outgoing call or if it is a number from an email or text found by Siri

If you’re looking for even more caller screening options and still need an iPhone upgrade, consider getting a new phone that supports Apple’s new iOS 17 coming this fall.

Apple’s Neural Engine allows iOS17 to live transcribe incoming voicemails, a feature called Live Voicemail that lets users judge whether to pick up or ignore the call based on the incoming message.

Apple has confirmed it as a new feature for iOS 17, boasting that automatically transcribed voice notes and voicemails will help iPhone users decide if they’re urgent.

The tech giant unveiled the feature at this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) and said it will be available when OS 17 comes to iPhones in September.
