Cody Simpson pokes his tongue out at Swimming World Championship trials
Cody Simpson shows off his muscular physique – and bolder side – as he competes in the trials of the World Swimming Championships
Cody Simpson famously put his pop career on hold to become a professional swimmer, and now he’s vying to make the Australian team at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.
The athlete, 26, was photographed on Wednesday at the trials in Melbourne showing off his amazing physique.
He showed off his toned arms and washboard abs as he got ready to jump in the pool.
Wearing a black knee-length tight speedo and black goggles, Cody cheekily stuck out his tongue before plunging into the water.
The singer’s extensive tattoo collection was also on full display as he prepared to enter the zone.

He competed in the men’s 50m freestyle final and men’s 50m butterfly final on day two of the trials at the Sports and Aquatic Center in Melbourne.
Cody finished in fourth place in the 50m butterfly, which meant he missed out on the number one round of athletes to make it to the Australian team.
However, he still has two chances to make it to the national team.

Making the Australian team for the world championship would take Cody one step closer to his ultimate dream of representing his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Despite only returning to swimming five years ago, the Queensland native got off to a flying start.
After just one year of full-time training, he qualified for the 2020 Australian Olympic Trials.
Recently, however, he took a major blow to his Olympic dreams at the 2023 Australian Swimming Championships in April.
He finished eighth in the 100m butterfly at The Gold Coast, where he reached the final at last year’s Commonwealth Games.
The singer and swimmer told Olympics. com last July that he wants to show people that they don’t have to fit into one box.

“I want to expand the ideas of what someone can do in their life, I think it’s very easy to put yourself in a box and label yourself,” he said.
“And that’s the easiest thing our mind can do to ourselves and other people, to put them in a box, but I never want to do that to myself and I’ve never wanted to do that to other people.”
While he toured the world as a young singer and was often labeled as the “Australian Justin Bieber,” Cody dislikes being labeled a pop star still.
He said: ‘I’ve had the title musician or pop star for a while and a lot of people in the media still put that in front of my name. I go, “Man, how fast do I have to go before you can drop that?”‘
