Who is Alex Corbisiero?

Born in New York, Alex Corbisiero is a former England international, who wore the Red Rose jersey 31 times.

Corbisiero played his club rugby for the now-bankrupt London Irish between 2008 and 2013, before moving to the Northampton Saints, where he went on to win a Premiership title in 2014.

His most memorable performance in the sport came as a member of the British and Irish Lions, starting two of the three Tests on the team’s victorious 2013 tour of Australia.

Unfortunately, Corbisiero struggled with injury issues throughout his career, which would see him pull out of the game altogether in 2016 after initially planning to take a sabbatical.

The star presenter – who has built a strong reputation for her witty responses to social media trolls – dated Corbisiero for nearly eight years, before the pair split because they were “in each other’s pockets.”

Explaining her divorce from Corbisiero, Woods said, “It was my decision — it was the right one and I’ve never regretted it.” We had been living in each other’s pockets and breaking up with him felt like we were taking a breather.

“The next thing for us was probably getting married and having kids. And I want to one day – I love being in love and I love children. I have prioritized work because I enjoy it and my ambitions are important to me.’

Woods’ statement after her departure was typically warm and wry, as the Arsenal supporter shared that she would miss ‘Spurs fans’ even after leaving broadcasting.

“You, our listeners, have given me so much comfort and guided me through some of my most difficult moments, without even realizing it,” Woods said. So I want to thank you personally for that. I will miss it very much. Even the Spurs fans.

“For what feels like a lifetime I have been a talkSPORT listener. For the past six years it has been my home, where we spend our mornings talking sports. There’s nothing better. I know I will never find such a job. It’s unique.

‘Three years as presenter of this great breakfast show, three pieces of silverware for the trophy cabinet and record listening figures. I am very proud of what we have achieved here. One thing is certain: I will always be part of this family at talkSPORT.”
