Everything wrong with hated American-style cars in one photo: Anger over ‘Yank tank’ taking up FOUR spaces in a parking lot – as Aussies reveal how they retaliate

An American-style ute driver has sparked outrage after parking his ‘Yank tank’ in four spaces in a crowded parking lot.

The vehicle was parked at the Hyperdome Shopping Center in Brisbane’s Logan over the weekend.

An unimpressed local snapped a photo before sharing it on Reddit this Sunday.

An exasperated Queensland resident shared a photo of a large Ford ute (above) parked in four places in Logan, west of Brisbane, on Sunday.

“Why take one place when you can take four?” the Queenslander wrote.

The driver’s inconsiderate act caught the attention of hundreds of Aussies with many saying the ignorant behavior is ‘typical’ of large car owners.

“The kind of owner who tells everyone he needed it for the towing capacity but rented a Bunnings trailer for a tip ride,” one person wrote.

Should American-style pickups be banned from Australia?

“This is why the disincentive for these vehicles should be taxes and higher regs,” said another.

“An extra couple of thousand and most people are going to think twice about whether they really need a vehicle this size.”

“Tailgating in the fast lane to a mall near you,” a third commented.

“I don’t think it’s surprising that some people who buy giant cars that cost a fortune and destroy the environment are selfish and don’t care who they bother,” wrote another.

Other commenters shared the creative ways they would retaliate against a driver taking up precious space in a busy parking lot.

“It’s not illegal to zip a few carts to his door handles,” one said.

“Always happy to see these vehicles being pulled over by the police over the long weekend,” commented another.

“My new favorite activity with these deliberately annoying parkers is deflating their tires. Doesn’t cause any damage, but causes massive hassle if they don’t carry a pump,” a third wrote.

Hundreds more commentators said Australian roads, especially in cities, just aren’t designed to handle American-style pick-ups.

“This is what bothers me about the influx of yank tanks that is happening right now. Our roads and parking infrastructure are not made for such large vehicles,” one wrote.

“Frankly, I think these types of cars should be banned or restricted. There is no legitimate need for this,” said another.

RAM, Australia’s largest supplier of US pickups, has sold 18,000 US cars to Aussies, Motivation reported in February.

The huge utes can cost up to $169,990 and come with huge fuel and maintenance costs, making them a status symbol among car owners.
