Fans of Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC are causing mayhem as they rush to get their hands on the football club’s new shirt…

Fans of Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC have flocked to buy the team’s new kit – causing chaos.

Red-faced club officials saw demand crash the ordering system, sparking a deluge of complaints and touts selling shirts for three times the price of £180 each.

Club chefs have apologized to supporters around the world following the takeover of Hollywood by Deadpool star Ryan and fellow actor Rob McElhenney, both 46.

Demand for the team’s new red strip forced the club’s ordering system to pay multiple times from some fans before confirming their orders.

The club’s website admitted it had issues with the ordering system – as eBay contenders made money selling shirts online for more than three times their retail price.

The new strip for next season which sees the team return to the English Football League for the first time in 15 years was unveiled last week with aviation giant United Airlines as the new sponsor.

The club apologized for the sales problems, but insisted the shirts were not sold out.

In a statement, they said: “Please note, we are aware of delays on the store website and are working on this.

Rest assured, orders are continuing, albeit with some delays, and shirts are in stock. Sorry for the inconvenience.’

One fan said their banking app showed they bought six shirts when they only wanted one.

Another wrote online: ‘Despite never getting a full confirmation at checkout (just keep going back to the beginning) you have now deducted 4 £114 lottery tickets from my bank and I’m now in the red, hooray for that.’

‘Wrexham never makes it easy. An hour and a half later I have 2 kits. Let’s wait and see what that actually cost me.’

A spokesperson for the club said they were seeking action against those selling comics at high prices on eBay after some shirts were listed for sale at £180, when the official price is £54.99.

A spokesman for Wrexham AFC said: ‘We have put in place restrictions to limit the possibility of resale and will monitor all multiple purchases to further reduce this.

“Individuals trying to resell shirts on other sites for exorbitant prices are an unwelcome by-product of our growing popularity, but will not succeed if supporters stick to official channels only.

Thanks again to all the supporters who bought shirts this morning.

“We can’t wait to see you next season in our new United Airlines-sponsored kits.”
