Carl Froch brings up 80,000 fans watching him at Wembley AGAIN in his Hall of Fame acceptance speech

How much again, Carl!? Three-time World Champion Froch is inducted into the Hall of Fame…and don’t pass up the opportunity to remind everyone that 80,000 FANS watched him take down George Groves at Wembley!

  • Britain’s Carl Froch was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday
  • Froch has repeatedly reminded people that 80,000 fans attended his last fight
  • He again came out with his favorite phrase in his acceptance speech

Carl Froch used his Hall of Fame acceptance speech to remind fans once again how many people watched him knock out George Groves in the final fight of his brilliant career at Wembley.

Froch and Groves met at England’s national football stadium in May 2014, seeking to resolve their rivalry after their controversial first fight last year.

In their rematch, Froch emerged victorious in much more convincing fashion, landing a one-punch knockout in the eighth round.

The Cobra announced his retirement soon after and has since frequently mentioned in interviews and even commentary on other fights that as many as 80,000 fans were in attendance when he stopped Groves.

The three-time world champion was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday and couldn’t resist using his favorite line one more time as he addressed the audience.

“What I was going to do was go here and try to do it like David Brent in The Office, but I realize this is serious business, the International Boxing Hall of Fame,” Froch began.

‘My first world title fight against the great Jean Pascal was in Nottingham, in my hometown, in front of 8,000 fans. And I used this line yesterday and I didn’t get enough response, so you guys better listen up.

‘8,000 fans in Nottingham for my first world title fight, that’s not the punch line, that’s not the big one. And my last fight was at the national stadium, Wembley Stadium, in front of 80,000 fans!’ This set off a flurry of applause and some cheering, with Froch replying ‘there you go!’

“I don’t say much about it!” he added cheekily.

He then became more serious and ended his speech by saying, “I’m flying back tomorrow, I’m going to take a step back on English soil, and by doing so I’ll be the proudest man in the West.” , so thank you very much.’

Froch is regarded as one of Britain’s greatest modern fighters having taken on the best in the world during his professional career of 35 fights.

He was beaten only twice, avenging one of those defeats against Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler.

He was involved in 12 consecutive world titles between 2008 and 2014 in the super-middleweight division, but it’s his last fight against George Groves that is most memorable, and Froch clearly wants it to stay that way.
