University of Virginia pitcher Stephen Schoch gave one of the best college baseball interviews ever after his team’s 14-4 victory over Duke in the NCAA Super Regionals.

After the game – which forced a winner-all game later on Sunday – Schoch began to give credit to his team for victory on enemy soil.

“You know, you walk into a stadium, 8,000 people, they all want you to lose,” Schoch began to ACC Network. “But as long as you have your 26 men ready to kick a**… or a kick in the ass, you’ll be fine. I’m sorry, I swore [sic] I shouldn’t.’

Schoch was the closer for the team in its ninth inning that sealed the victory for them. He explained the emotions he felt at the time.

“Well, emotions go in, win. I heard a fan offering free Dippin’ Dots if I screwed up, which the price of Dippin’ Dots with inflation is just unreal.

So for a brief moment I thought, damn it, Dippin’ Dots sound good. But I also thought in the back of my mind, we win today, we win tonight, we’ll be here another day. That’s more per day. So that means I can buy my own Dippin’ Dots and be a winner.

“So it’s like I’m going to go out, I’m going to attack, I think three words every time I’m there. The first is a swear word, begins with F, the attack of the second word, the victory of the third.

“And I’m just repeating that to myself, unless there’s a break in the system and a walkie-man and I have to tell myself I’m a few different things, that’s not a winner.”

Noticing the chance to take this interview from the serious to the hilarious, the interviewer asked Schoch if anything was making him nervous.

“Caves… mainly,” Schoch replied, pausing as the interviewer burst into laughter before continuing, “Nothing really. I mean, I don’t see any caves here.

‘I know we’re in the south, it’s not the desert. That’s probably where most of the caves are.

“But this is just a game. There will be much harder things in life than avoiding someone or not letting someone out.

“So I don’t really get caught up in all the gibberish and all the mean things people can say to me.

‘Cause it’s just that I think I’m a cool guy. My dogs love me, my teammates love me, and my friends love me. So I’m going to attack. I am going to win. Simple.’
