Charles Oliveira has called for another shot at the title after shocking Beneil Darius with a first-round knockout at UFC 289.
The 33-year-old ended Darius’ streak with a dominant performance when the referee stopped proceedings after just over four minutes into the first round.
He never seemed to get into trouble and took control from the start, hitting his opponent with a kick to the head early on.
Darius recovered, but it was only a matter of time before the fight was over and Oliveira’s hand was raised.
He was now able to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev again after losing his title when he missed weight prior to their first meeting.

Meanwhile, Darius sees his eight-game winning streak come to an end and must go back to the drawing board to climb the ladder in the division.
He showed flashes of what he can do, especially when the fight went to the mat with the American initially on top.
Oliveira, meanwhile, called Makhachev after the fight and said, “Do you want me to fight him in his house?” I will go. I’m ready.’
UFC president Dana White said the rematch makes “a lot of sense,” while Makhachev himself tweeted, “Congratulations Charles. But there are still levels in this game.’
