EastEnders star Priya Davdra ‘could go  head-to-head with Bobby Brazier on Strictly’

EastEnders stars Priya Davdra and Bobby Brazier could reportedly go head to head in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing as they are both being drafted by bosses to join the line-up, according to The mirror.

While the bosses searched for a new star for the next series, it looked like they would choose another sensation from the cast of the BBC One soap.

Priya, 36, has reportedly caught the attention of Strictly’s producers after her breakout role as Iqra Ahmed – Walford’s first Muslim lesbian.

Priya was chosen as a target for the casting team early on in the process and they were thrilled. She’s young, glamorous and would fit in well with the show,” a source told The Mirror.

It comes on the heels of reports on Friday that actor and model Bobby, 20 – who made his acting debut as Freddie Slater in soap – has reportedly been signed up for the dance competition’s next series.

But Priya’s future on the BBC One hit is still uncertain, as the actress teased earlier last month that she could make a great return to the show, following her departure last year.

She said The sun: ‘I’m not dead. There is always room to come back. I think so [Iqra’s coming out] was a very important storyline and it had a huge impact.

She starred on the show for three years before retiring to take another job, surprising viewers.

She added: ‘I think Iqra was the first gay Muslim on the show, EastEnders has such a big platform.

“I think it was a really important storyline and it had a huge impact because sometimes these things are kind of taboo to talk about, but I feel like this opened up conversations and created a lot more awareness.”

Priya revealed that she tried her best to make the storyline noteworthy as she admitted that coming out as gay to a South Asian family is not often talked about.

She added that she worked with the show to tell the truth, but also to be respectful.

In 2019, it was first revealed that EastEnders would introduce its first Muslim lesbian when Iqra’s secret text messages were exposed.

Bobby, who joined EastEnders last August, is the son of the late Big Brother star Jade Goody – who tragically died of cervical cancer in 2009 at the age of 27.

His father is TV host Jeff Brazier.

Jade rose to fame in 2002 in the third series of the reality TV show Big Brother.

She finished fourth on the Channel 4 show and later competed on the spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother in 2007 where she was deemed racist after making comments about her Indian housemate.

Bobby is Jade’s eldest child from her relationship with his father Jeff, and the couple also had a son Freddie together in 2004 before going their separate ways soon after.

In March, Bobby paid tribute to his late mother with a sweet Instagram post.

He called Jade his “guide” when he shared some of his modeling photos on the social media platform.

Bobby wrote in the caption, “Genes on his side, god in his heart and goody as his guide.”

It comes after Bobby opened up about his late mother Jade and his take on the “fake baby” debate.

Bobby was only five years old at the time and revealed that he bases his memory of his mother on what others tell him about her.
