  • But behind closed doors, Trump thought it was “great” that Clinton’s lawyer removed the messages

Former President Donald Trump praised Hillary Clinton’s attorney for deleting 30,000 of her emails in Friday’s unsealed federal indictment.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump went after Clinton over her email scandal, when the FBI investigated whether she mishandled classified documents by using a private email account and server during her time as secretary of state.

But behind closed doors, Trump thought it was “great” that Clinton’s attorney removed the posts — allowing her to come off the hook of potential federal charges.

One person labeled as Trump Attorney 1 in the indictment “commemorated” a conversation that took place last year and said Trump applauded Clinton’s unnamed attorney, saying, “he was great, he did a great job.”

‘You know what? He said, he said it was him. That he was the one who deleted all her emails, the 30,000 emails, because they were basically about her schedule and her going to the gym and her beauty appointments,” Trump allegedly said. And he was great. And him, so she didn’t get in trouble because he said he was the one who removed them.’

The call came after a conversation on May 23, 2022 in which Trump spoke to individuals labeled Trump Attorney 1 and Trump Attorney 2 and asked them if he had to comply with the subpoena to turn over classified materials to the National Archives.

“Well, what happens if we don’t react at all or don’t play along?” the former president then asked.

Trump was charged with 37 counts in the federal indictment released Friday

Earlier in the day, Clinton tweeted that she was selling “But Her Emails” hats to raise money, a reference to the email scandal that helped derail her 2016 presidential campaign against Trump.

Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton was asked by DailyMail.com if President Joe Biden was comfortable with Democrats raising money for Trump’s impeachment, citing Clinton, and she responded without comment.

“I’m just not going to comment on this,” she said.
