Brit dragged into Italian murder case as it’s revealed she was in relationship with accused murderer

A British waitress is involved in a high-profile Italian murder case after it was revealed she was dating a man who has admitted to murdering his heavily pregnant girlfriend.

The unnamed British-Italian waitress, 23, had been dating Alessandro Impagnatiello, 30, for about a year, and the pair had met while working at a bar in Milan.

Impagnatiello has confessed to stabbing Giulia Tramontano, 29, who was seven months pregnant, and disposing of her body in an abandoned area near the house they shared in Milan.

It has now been revealed that prior to the attack on May 27, the British waitress called Ms Tramontano after discovering Impagnatiello’s double life, and the two relied on what the waitress described as his “psychological abuse.”

Despite already knowing about the secret girlfriend, it is clear that Ms. Tramontano decided to live with Impagnatiello “as long as necessary” for the sake of their newborn.

Italian media claimed that just hours before Ms Tramontano’s murder, the waitress became suspicious after receiving peculiar text messages from Ms Tramontano – later reportedly sent by Impagnatiello.

‘We talked and [I] confided in Giulia,” the waitress told Italian police earlier this week, saying they agreed that Impagnatiello had “lied to both of us.”

She said she had already discovered photos of Impagnatiello and a pregnant Mrs. Tramontano on vacation.

After communicating with Ms. Tramontano for a while, she said that the two had tried together – unsuccessfully – to ask Impagnatiello for answers and to clarify the situation.

The woman was in contact with Ms Tramontano until her death and was alarmed when she responded unusually to text messages.

“She wrote messages in a different way than before,” the waitress told Carabinieri, ANSA reported.

Italian media reported that the waitress was so concerned about Ms Tramontano that she asked her to stay with her the night of her murder.

That same evening, the Briton had received a strange message from Mrs Tramontano’s phone saying ‘I lied to you, leave me alone’ – which, unbeknownst to the waitress, were the words of Impagnatiello.

Impagnatiello killed Ms. Tramontano between 7 and 8:30 p.m. on May 27, police determined. He later texted the waitress that he was now a “free man.”

Impagnatiello then tried to come to her house to declare his love for her, but she was so scared that she wouldn’t let him in, Italian media reported.

“I spoke to him through the bars of the balcony window,” she told police, prompting Impagnatiello to tire to claim that Ms. Tramontano had psychiatric problems.

During their meeting, the waitress noticed a pair of blue latex gloves hanging from Impagnatiello’s backpack and became suspicious, reported ANSA. She told the police that he had already behaved strangely.

The relationship between the waitress and Impagnatiello is said to have lasted until a few weeks ago. She had also become pregnant with Impagnatiello’s child in December 2022, but she told police she had an abortion “by mutual agreement with him.”

It comes after it was revealed that Impagnatiello attempted to burn Mrs. Tramontano’s body twice on the night of the murder – first in their flat’s bath and then outside nearby.

The next day, Impagnatiello reported his girlfriend missing and tried to hide her body. He had tried to claim that Mrs. Tramontano had left him after discovering his secret relationship, but he feared she had disappeared.

Italian police launched a search to find the seven-month pregnant woman, after which Impagnatiello confessed to the murder and hid the body days later.

Authorities said Impagnatiello even texted Mrs. Tramontano asking her to come home every day as if she were alive, to cover his tracks.

‘Honey where are you? We are all concerned,” read a text message the day after Impagnatiello killed his girlfriend.

The day after he texted, “Earlier I was looking at our photos from Ibiza (a recent holiday). I know I haven’t been the ideal boyfriend these past few months.

“Just tell us you escaped to a faraway land,” another text read.

Prosecutors say Impagnatiello googled days before the murder how to burn a body and remove bloodstains, and how to get a negative paternity test in an attempt to convince his girlfriend the baby wasn’t his.
