The Crown bosses reveal the future of the Netflix show
The Crown bosses are revealing the future of the Netflix show after its sixth and final season at the end of the year
The Crown may return as a series of films once the sixth and final series of the royal drama airs later this year, it is rumored.
According to sources, Netflix is eager to continue the series in some way, after previously assuming it would only run until the end of its sixth season.
That’s what a TV insider said SunWhile this sounds like a drastic change, it turned out to be a huge success for Downton Abbey, which ran for 52 episodes before going on to become two hit films.
“Making a movie, or maybe a series of specials, means creators have so much more flexibility to jump in terms of time and subject matter.
“They could deliver a prequel, perhaps focusing on the 1930s abdication crisis. Later on, there’s the opportunity to revisit the 21st century royals, perhaps focusing on Harry’s encounter with Meghan and his feud with William.”

MailOnline has contacted Netflix for comment.
Last month, Netflix insiders have informed the Mail On Sunday that there may be another series of the popular drama Royal.
The streaming platform has always insisted that the sixth season, expected to air this fall, will be its last, with events leading up to the late Queen’s death last year.
But at a recent wrap party to mark the end of filming those episodes, producers revealed that an additional series could be on the way. With a wink, an executive hinted, “Wait until next year – maybe we’ll be in production then.”
The big-budget series, which has charted the late Queen’s life since her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947, has become more controversial as the events it dramatizes – often with only a loose connection to the truth – become more contemporary. .
So if a seventh series covered the reign of King Charles, it could make more headlines.
Another possibility would be a prequel focusing on the childhood and teenage years of the late Queen.
The final scenes of series six to be shot recreate the 2005 wedding of Charles and Camilla played by Dominic West and Olivia Williams.

Last month, 53-year-old WestS was visibly emotional when filming ended in Rochester, Kent, which took the place of Windsor. But the day ended in celebration, with cast and crew dancing to a live band.
West was also the last man standing at the wrap party, leaving the bash at the Natural History Museum at 3:30 a.m. Others there included Imelda Staunton, who plays the Queen, and Jonathan Pryce, who plays Philip.
Olivia Colman and Claire Foy played younger versions of Her Majesty in previous series.
