Former Governor of New Jersey. Chris Christie filed paperwork Tuesday to officially enter the race for president as he prepares to hold a New Hampshire town hall event where he will show off his standard speaking skills that he plans to use against Donald Trump .
Christie jumps into a crowded Republican field where the former president is dominating the polls.
He is way behind the early New Hampshire polls, but he also has an established network in the early voting state, having tangled with the GOP field here during his failed presidential run in 2016.
His move comes a day after New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu announced he would stay out of the race — warning that a crowded field like in 2016 could work in Trump’s favor.

In response to Trump’s personal attack, Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., said in a statement Tuesday: “Ron DeSantis” campaign is spiraling and President Trump’s dominance of the Republican primary field has taken a toll. frenzied stampede launched to grab the mantle for runner-up. Christie endorsed Trump in 2016 after dropping out of the race following his own sixth-place finish in New Hampshire.
Trump reposted an insult to his longtime adviser Roger Stone on June 1.
