Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos issues warning to Harry Kane

Don’t reject Real Madrid! Sergio Ramos warns Harry Kane not to miss out on a summer move to the Bernabeu, insisting he join a ‘special club that knows how to win’

  • Real Madrid are looking for a striker as Karim Benzema is on the brink of leaving the club
  • They are interested in signing Harry Kane, who has one year left
  • Sergio Ramos has issued an advisory for the England and Tottenham Hotspur star

Sergio Ramos has warned Harry Kane not to turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid.

Manchester United are also interested in signing the England captain, although Tottenham owner Daniel Levy is reluctant to see his star player leave this summer – despite the risk of losing him for nothing next year.

Former Madrid captain Ramos enjoyed 16 trophy-laden years at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the Paris Saint-Germain defender has issued some advice for the Tottenham star.

According to the Mirror, he said: ‘My advice to any player is not to turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid – they are a special club that knows how to win.

‘He [Kane] has an incredible physical presence, you can’t score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game.

“But he can also play the technical side of the game and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that.

“Yes, he’s a great goalscorer, but he’s also a great footballer.”

Ramos knows more than most about the power Madrid wield in the European game, having won 22 silvers during his time at the club, including five LaLiga titles and four Champions League trophies.

Kane on the other hand has yet to win a trophy despite his status as one of the world’s greatest strikers.

Ramos added that whoever wants to sign Madrid should embrace the pressure to replace Benzema – who he feels is irreplaceable.

The 37-year-old said: ‘What you do have to do is bring out a quality that can come on and score goals. Not everyone can play for Real Madrid because there is so much pressure and expectations – so it has to be the right player.’

Reports have suggested that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will try to lower the price of the Englishman, despite Tottenham preparing to put their heels in the sand for their star player.

Mail sports reported on Sunday that sources have indicated that Levy Madrid will name a minimum starting price of £100 million for Kane.

However, it is believed there is room for negotiation and it seems Real Madrid are keen to put that to the test with this reported £69m (€80m) opening bid.

While Manchester United are interested, Levy is adamant he doesn’t want to sell his club’s prized asset to a domestic rival.

So Real Madrid has leverage to negotiate one lower fee of less than £100m, knowing that Levy does not want to do business with another English club.

Tottenham Hotspur will lose Kane for nothing next year if they don’t sell him in the next two transfer windows as his contract expires.

It remains to be seen if Kane would seriously consider leaving England for Spain.
