A woman who plunged to her death from a New York building behaved “erratically” before jumping out of a fourth-floor window.
The 23-year-old’s identity has yet to be confirmed, but police said she was visiting New York when the tragedy occurred.
She initially stopped at the Bortolami art gallery that occupies the first two floors of the five-story building on Walker Street in Tribeca, sources told the New York Post.
The tourist then made her way to the upper floors, which are usually only accessible to residents of the building, before throwing herself out of a fourth-floor window.
She reportedly threw herself to death in the backyard, with the source adding that she was behaving “erratically.”

“She was acting erratically. She tore down the blinds, opened the window and jumped out,” she said.
Authorities confirmed they found the woman unconscious just after 5pm and rushed her to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“At approximately 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, police responded to an 911 call from an unconscious person at 45 Walker Street within the boundaries of the 1st Precinct,” an NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com.
Then officers saw a 23-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive. The aided person has injuries that indicate a fall from an elevated position.
Transported by EMS to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced deceased and the New York City Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.

Despite the doors being open, visitors are still not allowed to go to the fourth floor, which houses apartments worth up to $2.5 million.
It is unclear whether the woman’s family or next of kin were informed of her death.
