Claire Sweeney reunited with her Brookside parents Sue Jenkins and Dean Sullivan this weekend at the British Soap Awards.

The actress, 52, who played Lindsey Corkhill in the long-running Channel 4 soap, was cozy with her former on-screen mum and dad – Sue who played Jackie Corkhill and Dean who played Jimmy Corkhill.

Claire, who played Lindsey off and on for 12 years, posed for the family reunion and admitted it felt very “emotional.”

Taking to her Instagram with the couple, she wrote, “This felt emotional right now. So happy to see @deansul @susie.jenks #brookside #family.’

Coronation Street actress Claire, who announced she was joining the soap’s cast in April, posed with the train of her dress across the floor next to her.

The garment featured shimmering gold decorative detailing on the hip and neckline, with Claire carrying a sequined handbag in the same matching colour.

She wore a pair of gold open-toed heels to add a few inches to her stature and for the evening, she was outfitted with a pair of sling earrings.

Claire wore a lot of makeup to accentuate her features and opted for a bold red lip.

She has already started filming for Coronation Street and her first scenes will air on Wednesday 28 June.

Dean sat cozily in the middle, looking smart in a black suit and crisp white shirt.

He paired the look with an extravagant black and white tie and brown hat.

Sue also looked fabulous in the picture, in a white frilly blouse and chic brown trousers.

Fans were full of compliments for the Corkhill family when they reunited some 20 years after the soap ended.

Liverpool-born Claire was first known for her portrayal of Lindsey Corkill in the scouse soap Brookside, for which she won Best Dramatic Scene at the British Soap Awards

Set in Liverpool, the soap chronicles the lives of characters who live in 13 houses on a cul-de-sac called Brookside Close.

Their family reunion comes after fellow Brookside star Louis Emerick and Claire claimed the long-running Channel 4 soap predicted the future with its storylines.

During an appearance in Lorraine in February this year, Claire discussed a plot in which her character Lindsey Corkhill was arrested in Thailand after her ex-husband Gary Jackson (played by Allan Patterson) planted drugs in her suitcase.

She said, “The Thailand storyline…he would write it, and five weeks later the same thing would happen in the press! It’s so scary.’

Louis (who played Mick Johnson) added: ‘If you think about it now, we’re on strikes now. If you also think about the kind of plague… we hated that storyline.

Claire agreed, “We thought it was mental, didn’t we?” before Louis said ‘It was the Covid of 25 years ago’.

Claire concluded about creator Phil Redmond: ‘Phil had this brilliant instinct. There would be a story in the script and a week later it would be in the news.”

It was announced earlier this year that Brookside is returning to screens in the UK after 20 years off the air.
