I got pregnant at the same time as my mother

A mother and daughter who became pregnant at the same time each gave birth to baby boys just two weeks apart — and the uncle and cousin now both start school in September.

Melanie Warburton, 44, came home to tell her daughter Keesha, 24, that she was expecting after her six-week scan in June 2018 – just as Keesha had taken a pregnancy test that revealed the good news.

The couple from Atherton, Greater Manchester went to appointments together, shopped for baby clothes and even shared a baby shower together.

Melanie gave birth to her son, Grayson, four – her third child – via caesarean section on January 15, 2019, and Keesha was induced two weeks later on January 29, giving birth to a baby boy; Carter.

Both are now four years old.

“I came down the stairs with a pregnancy test in my hand and there was my mom with a scan in her hand,” Keesha, a teaching assistant in training, said of the experience.

“I came with a pregnancy test and mom said, ‘I can’t have anything for myself,'” she joked.

“It was crazy but amazing going through the pregnancy and delivery with her.”

Melanie, 44, a stay-at-home mom, also called the experience “amazing.”

The mother-of-three along with husband William Warburton, 36 – Keesha’s stepfather, a health and safety specialist – tried after she had her fallopian tubes detached.

“Because of the hormones we both had, we ripped into each other a few times,” she admitted.

Keesha, who had previously suffered a stillbirth, also stressed the importance of her mother’s guidance during this time as Melanie “reassured her every step of the way.”

“It was great that my mom told me everything was normal or okay,” she added.

Keesha says it was “incredible” if “a little crazy” to have a son (pictured right) and little brother (pictured left) at the same time

She felt the baby move and two weeks later I felt it.

“We just went through everything together. It was incredible to have a little brother and have my own son at the same time.

“A little crazy, but just great.”

Keesha, who has been with partner Callum Pearson, 23, a stay-at-home dad for six years, is also excited to see both her son and little brother take the next big step together.

Although officially “uncle” and “cousin,” the pair say their boys are like “brothers.”

“It was great to see how well Carter and Grayson get along,” she said, touched.

“They had every milestone so close together. It was so beautiful to see.’

Two months after giving birth, Keesha found out she was pregnant with twins and gave birth to Lottie and Louis, now three, in the same room she was born in, on her 21st birthday.
