Email suggests Prince Andrew lied about relationship with Jeffrey Epstein
Prince Andrew faces fresh calls for an FBI probe into his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein after emails from the pedophile billionaire suggest Duke ‘lied’ in his BBC Newsnight interview
Prince Andrew is facing new questions about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein after emails emerged suggesting he had ‘lied’ about it in his BBC Newsnight interview.
A post written by the late billionaire pedophile and released as part of a US lawsuit shows that he presented 63-year-old Andrew as a potential investor in 2011, despite the royal family claiming to have ended all contact in 2010.
Epstein’s victims called on the prince last night to talk to the FBI, which he has so far refused. It is not known if he knew that Epstein had mentioned him in the email exchange.
So told their representative, US attorney Spencer Kuvin the mirror“It seems that either Epstein greatly exaggerated his relationship with Prince Andrew, or the Duke may not have been completely honest about when his friendship ended.”
One Epstein victim, who was awarded damages under the Epstein Victims Compensation Program, said, “The emails raise serious questions. Why would Jeffrey praise him as an investor if he was out of touch?’
Prince Andrew said he cut off contact with Jeffrey Epstein after visiting him in New York in December 2010
In an email written to JP Morgan on August 31, 2011, Andrew suggested as a possible investment partner because “he’s allowed to make money now.”
It was revealed as part of a lawsuit against the bank by the US Virgin Islands who claim it is complicit in the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein.
In a counter-claim, JP Morgan accuses area officials of taking money and favors from Epstein in exchange for turning a blind eye when he abused women on the island.
Speaking to the BBC’s Emily Maitlis in 2019, Andrew said he cut off contact with Epstein after visiting him in New York in December 2010.
Asked, “Have you seen or spoken to him again?” The duke said, “No.”
Epstein served nearly 13 months in prison in 2008 after being convicted of procuring a child for prostitution and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
But Prince Andrew continued his friendship with the perpetrator after he was released, despite many others cutting all ties with him and being infamously photographed with him in New York in 2010.
In 2019, he told the BBC that his relationship with Epstein and the opportunities he’d been given were “really helpful” and said he couldn’t remember the photo with Virginia Roberts — now known as Virginia Giuffre — “ever taken.”
Jeffrey Epstein took his own life in 2019 while in prison.
Epstein’s ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell – who was also a friend of Andrew’s – is serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
The palace declined to comment today. MailOnline has contacted JP Morgan and the US Virgin Islands.
Asked by Emily Maitlis “Have you seen or spoken to him again?” The duke said, ‘No’
It follows that the royal faces were forced out of his house into the royal box by his brother, King Charles.
The monarch allegedly told him to leave the 98-acre estate – his home of more than 20 years.
But he is reportedly planning to honor the lease he signed in 2003 by refusing to vacate the £30 million mansion, and is determined to complete the remainder of his 75-year lease.
A friend told the Mail On Sunday that Andrew is feeling dejected and ‘refuses to part with’ the estate, which is believed to be reserved for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children.
