David ‘Kochie’ Koch’s surprising next career move is revealed when he steps down from hosting Sunrise after 21 years on the show
He may be retiring as guest chairman on Sunrise, but fans haven’t seen the last of David “Kochie” Koch.
The 61-year-old signed a two-year contract with Seven late last year, and network bosses are eager to get their money’s worth out of him.
Kochie will continue to make guest appearances on various Seven shows, including Sunrise, until his contract expires in December 2024.
His background in financial journalism will come in handy as Seven apparently intends to position Kochie as the face of economic news updates for the network.
“Seven sees Koch, as the network’s one-time money expert, as a key asset in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis where rising interest rates and bursts of inflation make headlines daily.” The Australian Media Diary reports.

Kochie will apparently continue to make guest appearances on various Seven shows, including Sunrise, until his contract expires in December 2024.
The veteran presenter already hosts his own show on financial advice on Seven, Kochie’s Business Builders, giving practical advice to small and medium business owners.
Kochie’s passion for providing financial advice extends beyond his work at Seven as he and his wife Libby own a marketing firm specializing in start-ups, business and finance.
He is also the executive chairman of AusBiz, a streaming channel for markets and business content.

“I started here before Facebook, before Instagram, before Twitter and iPhones. That’s how old I am,” he said, as his co-host Natalie Barr got visibly emotional.
“I loved every minute of it and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved here over the past 21 years.”
Kochie’s passion for providing financial advice extends beyond his work at Seven as he and his wife Libby (right) own a marketing firm specializing in start-ups, business and finance.
“I’ve been privileged to go on so many great adventures, meet so many different people and meet so many different people and have so many moments of history in the making. It really is the most beautiful job in the world.’
The television star said the move would allow him to focus on his family and business interests, but did not rule out a return to the Sunrise bank.
Meanwhile, Matt Shirvington was confirmed as Kochie’s replacement on Monday’s Sunrise.
